"On your left!" I warned the other teenager before shooting at Steve. Cap quickly deflected it, giving Peter enough time to swing out of the way. Bucky kept his distance, but still stood defensively.
"I don't want to do this. It's just- well, I don't have much of a choice-" I cut myself off as he threw his shield at me. I ducked and rolled, quickly standing to shoot a blast of energy at his ankles. He jumped and landed behind me. My legs were kicked out from under me. I yelped as I caught myself from hitting the floor, flipping back up and putting my fists in front of my face again.
"There's always a choice, ___," his voice was still the friendly tone I had grown to know. The only difference was the icy stare that came with it. Steve kept an arm out to keep Bucky from interfering. My arms lowered a little, "Bucky- he's my friend."
"What you're doing is against the law," I argued, "There are better ways to protect your friend."
"Not this time," Steve shook his head and lowered his shield.
"What happened to 'there's always a choice'?" He remained silent. I took the moment of vulnerability to fling a taser disc at him. It pegged his shoulder, jolts of electricity shooting through him. He fell the the floor, trying to pry it from his suit. Before Bucky could get any closer to me, I pegged him with one as well.
Peter landed next to me again, putting his hands on his sides.
"You were a lot of help there, Spider-Boy," I raised an eyebrow at him.
"I- well," he looked at Cap and Bucky, who were still struggling to control their muscles. I tapped my bracelet and released the discs. Cap used his knee to help prop himself back up. Peter tensed and put out his wrist to shoot; I held out my hand and gently motioned for him to put it back down.
"He's not gonna hurt us," I nervously glanced at the rest of the fight around us. Fire consumed the airport. The people who had become family fighting as if they were strangers. This was bad, too. This wasn't what I signed up for. I glanced behind me at the open hangar doors that let to a jet, "Cap, no matter how far you run, my dad isn't gonna give up."
"And neither will we," he wiped the blood from his lip, even though it was from an earlier fight. I glanced at Peter- we were just kids. And we were only meant to slow them down; we weren't going to win this fight. The rest of Cap's team caught up, but slowed when they noticed the stand-off.
"Just promise me you won't kill my dad," I looked back to Steve, "Please."
"I promise, kid," he let out a small and tired laugh. I pulled Peter's arm to make a way for Steve and his team.
"Wait, ___- what are you-"
Before my attempt could play out, a yellow beam of light burned into the concrete between us. Peter and I backed away from the line.
"Captain Rogers," Vision called out from above us, "I know you believe what you're doing is right. But for the collective good-"
Dad and Natasha landed beside us.
"You must surrender now," Vision lowered himself. Rhodey and T'Challa landed on the other side of us. My stomach twisted with whatever was about to happen. We stood, waiting for the other to make a move.
Steve took the first step. Then the rest of his team.
Our team copied.
I turned on my blasters again, watching as the metal crept over my hands and up my wrists. They stopped at the middle of my arms, providing some armor to use as defense.
