*This is from my book 'Secrets'. I am putting it on here because 'Secrets' doesn't get much reads so I'm deleting it and ending the book early.
So long story short, enjoy <3
I sat down at my usual corner and took out my guitar. I began singing 'Tell Her You Love Her'.
When I finished I had an applause and $5.
"(Y/n)?" a familiar voice asked in the crowd.
"Peter! Hey," I said grabbing my money and putting it my old worn-out backpack.
"You're an amazing singer! What are you doing out here?" He asked sitting on the curb next to me.
"I live out here," I smiled looking into my backpack, "Want a sandwich? I have just enough to get two."
"Wait, what do you mean you live out here? Does your family live out here?" Peter said confused.
"I'm an orphan, Peter. A homeless orphan, now do you want that sandwich or not?" I replied standing up.
"I can't take your money, but you mean, you just live on the streets? And you're okay with that?" Peter said handing me $5 for my dinner. We walked to the nearby drive-thru restaurant and bought some food.
"Yep," I answered, "It's not like I can miss what I never had."
"Well," he hesitated for a second, "you can live with us. I-uh, I mean Aunt May and I. If you want."
"Really?! You mean it?!" I asked enthusiastically.
"Yeah, I'm sure Aunt May wouldn't mind," Peter guaranteed.
"Okay, but I don't want to intrude," I said politely.
"Don't worry, come on, it's this way," he said, grabbing my hand and walking me to his home.
"Aunt May!" he yelled after unlocking the door.
"Yes, Peter- oh hi!" his Aunt walked out and shook my hand, "Peter, who's this?"
"This is (Y/n). She's from my school," Peter introduced, "(Y/n), this is my Aunt May."
"Nice to meet you (Y/n), will you be staying for dinner?" she asked me.
"Oh, I already ate," I said wanting Peter to ask if I could stay.
"Aunt May, (Y/n) is homeless, can she please stay with us," Peter blurted.
"She is!? Where's your family?" she wondered out loud.
"They abandoned me when I was a baby," I clarified. It's not what really happened, but that's the lie I tell everyone else.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Mrs. Parker (as I like to call her in a respectful manner) said, "Well, sure you can stay with us."
I squealed, "Thank you so much!! Don't worry, you'll barely know I'm here."
I took a quick shower, my first in a week. Bleh. When I got out I was surprised to see a pair of new clothes the counter. I noticed some pajamas next to the outfit. I put on the soft night wear and walked out. I felt like I was invading a little, considering I barely knew the family. Peter walked out of his room, the noise of the door interrupting my thoughts.
"I see you found the clothes Aunt May set out for you," he smiled. I laughed a little before Peter spoke up again.
"You can sleep in my room if you want, I'll sleep on the couch," he said motioning to his door.
"No, no, I'll sleep on the couch. It's fine, really," I said shaking my hands.
"No, I insist," Peter asked.
"I'm fine, a couch is a huge upgrade compared to what I'm used to, a bed is too much," I said considerately.
"O-Okay," Peter said before hugging me. I froze for a second before relaxing and hugging him back.
"Good night, Peter," I smiled, still hugging him. We pulled apart.
"Good night, (Y/n)."
