I smiled at my brother. Half brother. I mean... yeah. Same dad different moms, oh who cares. I smiled at Loki. Thor was on the right side of me, trying to make small conversation with my brother, whom was trying to behave kindly in response- but was also tremendously failing. I giggled at his sarcastic remark and he looked down at me slightly. A small smile tugged at his lips, but dropped as the elevator dinged. Finally facing forward, I stared into the room in front of us.
I was only 15 in midgard years, and I am not even sure what that means in Alfheim or Jotunheim years. Either way, being 15 here, meant I was younger than everybody in said room. Except for one boy, towards the back.
I gripped the edge of Loki's sleeve as we started walking forward. Everyone's eyes were on me- not the one who was banned here to begin with, but the tinier one with a bow in her hand and arrows on her back. I could feel adrenaline start pumping through my veins as my hands went blue. Markings traced up my arms and a shiver chilled all the way up to my face.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., take her weapons away," someone spoke, but my eyes were clouded with red.
"Woah.." I heard the boy gasp. The weapons were pried from my body as I made eye contact with him. And just like that, I felt calm again. The frosty color slowly went back down to my original fair color. Being half light elf really helped when it came to having to look normal, especially once I gave up Asgardian appearance magic. My thoughts went back to the simpler times, when Loki and I thought we were born as Asgardian prince and princess and practiced magic together...
"(Y/n)," Loki mumbled down at me. I glanced up at him and he nodded his head slightly to Thor. I moved my head, following his motion.
"Sister, I asked if you were okay," Thor smiled kindly. I nodded.
"Yeah, um, I'm not so sure if that can be counted as okay, what was that, exactly?" a brunette man- Stark- stepped forward. I backed up a bit, only for Loki to push me back to where I was.
"I said, I'm fine," I growled lowly back. Stark raised his eyebrows. The kid merely stared.
"Oh, so the Avatar speaks!" he laughed a bit. I glared.
"Oh, you have no idea how fast I can shove an icicle up your-" Thor covered my mouth with an apologetic smile.
"So, Thor, Loki and.. (Y/n).. , are staying here because Loki can't be on Asgard, correct?" a blonde man spoke up. I smiled a bit at his kinder attitude.
"Yes, Steve," a redhead stood up, "but why should we let them? I mean are we really gonna let Loki, the guy who almost destroyed New York and killed hundreds of people-"
"What about the girl? Did you not see what just-"
"Okay, but what if we-"
And with that, the adults were all in a deep argument. The boy just awkwardly hung his head, avoiding all eye contact possible.
'Okay, what's up with you people,' I thought, pulling Thor's hand off of my mouth. The boy's head shot back up at me, looking both bewildered and frightened. Shoot.
'Sorry, it's a trick my brother taught me, but I'm still getting a hang of only making it my own thoughts instead of sharing them..' I thought again, explaining why the boy heard my voice from across the room. Mind reading and telepathy. Useful.. and obnoxious. He just continued to stare.
"Hey, kid, you alright, you look like you just saw a ghost?" Stark stopped the argument, noticing the boy's jaw drop.
"Sh-she... what are you?" the boy asked, sounding more curious than scared. I smiled at the thought of someone not trembling at my feet.
'I am from both Jotunheim and Alfheim- princess of the giants and elves. Are you not afraid of me?'
The boy- who I now knew was named Peter- shook his head hesitantly.
'Hm.. you know who he is, right?'
Peter nodded, glancing at my brother then back at me. I walked over to Peter, getting a better look at him.
'Well Loki- he should terrify you. Don't worry, though, I won't let him harm you. No promises for Stark, though..'
Loki laughed from the other side of the room, leaving the Avengers even more confused. Oh right.. Loki can read my thoughts, too.
"Oh, thanks," the boy said with a nervous laugh, "You are- you're really cool.." he trailed off, "B-By the way, my name's P-Peter. I mean- wait, yeah, yeah, Peter Parker."
I chuckled at his nervousness and shook his hand, "(Y/n), (Y/n) Laufeydottir. Pleasure to meet you, Peter. Although- why is your last name simply 'Parker'? Should it not be Parkerson?"
His face darkened a bit in confusion.
"It's not the same here, Avatar," Stark spoke up. I swirled around to face him. I simply tilted my head, motioning for him to continue.
"Last names here aren't as formal," Thor concluded for him, "I learned that the hard way..."
I nodded in understanding. My brother walked towards me and pulled me back a few steps.
'You must stand at least five feet away from all teenage boys at all times, Miss I'm independent but still had my first kiss at 4 and then had three kisses before I was even 14..' Loki spoke to me telepathically. I rolled my eyes at my over-protective brother, but still smiled a little.
I glanced back at Peter, flashing him a genuine smile. He smiled back at me, no fear, no pity, just admiration. It made my heart flutter. I was happy. For the first time in years, I was completely happy.
