"Miss Quill, Mr. Stark is waiting for you," Happy notified.
"Thanks," I smiled with a slight nod, hoping that wasn't rude on Terra- er, earth. I wasn't completely used to the customs yet. My brother- Peter Quill- left me here because I would be safer. In reality, he just didn't want me around anymore. He didn't have to say that to my face.
We had a love hate relationship. Almost always have. I was favored by Yondu, I'll admit that. But that's only because I was younger. And a girl. Peter never saw that. To him, I was just that greedy little sister who joined the mission twenty years too late. I was treated like a queen. He had tried so hard to be loved, but he never felt it because I was taking it.
I have to admit, I felt bad about it. But I couldn't do anything. It wasn't my choice to have any of this happen.
When I turned thirteen, him and I left and became partners in crime. Him and I had each others backs 100% of the time. And then his little crew of aliens came and they agreed they'd 'save the galaxy' or whatever. Rocket and I became best friends. We just clicked. That's why I stayed on earth. He actually wanted me to be safe. He was the only one who cared. Rocket said Stark could take better care of me than he could- and I trusted his judgement.
Mr. Stark nodded along to my story before finally coming to a conclusion.
"There's a kid I want you to meet," he smiled kind, but still stern, "I think he'll help you fit in. You're gonna like him."

"Peter Parker!" I laughed and stood up on the roof of the apartment we were patrolling on, brushing off my suit, "Mustard is way better than mayonnaise!"
"What?! Nooo," he chuckled with a response. I shook my head and grabbed the rest of my sandwich that he had stolen. I sat back down on the edge next to him, noticing him tense a bit at the closeness. I unwrapped the food slightly from the paper it came in.
"Hey! You ate like.. half of it!" I pouted, looking at the other half of the salami and pickle melt, "I thought you said you like mayonnaise..."
"Yeah, but I never said mustard was bad," he gave me a goofy smile, making my heart flutter. I looked at the rest of the picnic. Bags of candy and chips littered the floor around us.
"Okay, but like, I'm pretty sure my soulmate is gonna be a bag of gummy bears," I sighed and laid on my back, allowing my feet to dangle over the sixty foot drop. Peter laid next to me, staring up at the sky.
"Really? 'Cause I just ate a whole bag of 'em," he trailed off, putting his arms beneath his head. I gasped and slapped his arm playfully.
"You piece of trash, that was the love of my life," I tried to say with a serious face.
"Guess you'll have to find a new love," he shrugged and looked at me from the corner of his eye. I felt a subtle blush rise to my cheeks and cursed at myself for having feelings. I just nodded and looked up at the clouds.
"Do you think my brother misses me?" I sighed, wondering where in the universe he was.
"Well, us Peters have this bond, you know? And I think any Peter would miss you if you weren't in their life," he sat up once again and looked at the city below us.
"Thanks, Pete," I smiled and sniffed. Silence settled around us, making me wonder if I should just get it out now.
"I have to tell you something," we both spoke, "You first. Stop that!"
I laughed, "But really, you first."
"Okay, but only if you promise to tell me what you were gonna say after."
"Promise," I smiled and wrapped my pinky around his.
"Okay.. here goes nothing," he mumbled to himself, "I really- I really like you."
"Like.. like-like?" I wondered out loud, hoping he couldn't hear how fast my heart was beating.
"Like, like-like," he confirmed hesitantly.
"I like-like you too, Dork," I beamed.
"Does that mean-" he started, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I mean, if you want to be-" I tried to finish, only realizing I was just as nervous as he was. He quickly leaned forward, meeting his lips to mine. I smiled into it, pulling him closer my the collar if his shirt. He grabbed the sides of my waist almost eagerly. We separated, still almost nose to nose.
"So does this mean I'm better than gummy bears?" he asked with a sparkle in his eyes.
"Definitely."
