"Oh this smells so good, I'm starving!" Brexley exclaimed, making our plates then grabbing another bottle of wine. At this point I'm feeling pretty tipsy, but I'm starving and ready to eat some cheesy crab.
"Alright ladies here you go, lunch is served!" Brexley said placing our plates in front of us on the island. I took in a deep whiff of the food, taking in the pleasant smell of this perfect dish that I had always loved since I was a little kid. It was always my comfort food. My mom and Andy both made it after my break-up with Harrison, then the three of us had a wonderful girls night over wine, and lots of stories that helped me make it through.
"This smells fantastic, Brexley. You know this was always my comfort food, after my break-up with my first love, I called my mom and Andy really upset over the situation, so the two of them concocted a little surprise girls night with this meal and lots of wine. I drove all the way back from my place in Nashville, and they made everything better. Despite all of the shit I had been through, and all of the things Andy had been through, she has always been able to pull through the tough times; No matter how difficult. I'm sorry to bring this conversation up again, but I just want to say that, whatever battle it is that you two are dealing with, Andy has always been able to see the light through the darkness. She's always been the North Star in the sky that guided me when I needed it. She's my best friend, and no matter what the two of you deal with, she's always going to find a way to make sure the both of you come out on top,"
"I can understand why Kale never shuts up about you too. You really are a great person at heart, Blue. I don't have to spend hours with you to figure that out. Your words have told me enough, and seeing as you're Andrea's best friend, I will always accept you because I love her, and it's very obvious that you two are a package; There's no changing that, but I'm perfectly fine with it. I like you, Blue. You've got a good heart, a beautiful soul, and from what little bit Andrea has told me, despite everything you've been through, not one damn thing has kept you down. Not one thing has kept you from getting to your dreams, and I really like that about you thus far. I also hope that with time, we can soon become closer, with our own relationship as well,"
"I would love that, Brexley. Thank you for your kind words, you're a sweet girl and it seems you take very good care of my best friend. From what I can tell here so far, you've both suffered a great loss, and instead of running when things got hard, you've stuck through it, and stuck it out by her side. That counts for something, and I can only hope that you will continue to do as such, because I don't want to see her hurt; And you make her happy, so all I ask is please never stop doing that,"
"I give you my word, here and now,"
"I'm going to hold you to that now, so I'm going to tell you this right now, don't make a promise that you can't keep,"
"Brexley, what are you doing?" Andy asked, a worried look in her eyes.
"I can guarantee you, I'm able to keep it with specific terms. Those terms are, the promise can be broken if, we mutually agree that the relationship isn't working so we decide to break it off, we become toxic for each other, one of us cheats or becomes abusive, or it just fizzes out. Deal?" Brexley replied, not minding Andy's question.
"I'll say those are pretty reasonable and acceptable terms. I'll hold you to it, Let's eat shall we?"
"Brexley, you just made a promise to my best friend, and I don't know that I'm okay with it; You didn't even think about it, nor consent me. It was about me, and that makes it my business, so I get a say and I'm pretty concerned,"
"Do you trust me, Andy?"
"Well yes of course I do, but that has nothing to do with this."
"Yes, it does and I'm asking you to trust me on this. This isn't just some petty little high school promise. It's about our relationship, and we made it in front of you because neither of us hide anything from you. We did that for a reason, so therefore yes it is your business, but I don't have to think twice about my love for you, and the fact that I see nothing but a future with you, and only you Andy, that should be enough for you to understand the terms of this promise like Blue does, and keep moving forward not letting it change anything,"
In that moment, that was the moment I knew Brexley was absolutely the woman that my best friend needed in her life. Whether anyone saw it or not Brexley was literally Andy's other half, that she needed; They were the missing piece of one another's lives. Andy was the love of Brexley's life, and Brexley was the love of Andy's whether she was ready to see it or not; It was the truth.
It was good to know that no matter where I was in the world Andy would always have Brexley to be there when I couldn't be on levels that I'd never be. I'm okay with that and she needs that. I knew that when I leave here she'd always have someone there to take care of her, and I could leave to go back to Nashville with that comfort and peace of mind.
"You're zoning out, Blue. You got something on your mind?" Andy asked pulling me away from my thoughts.
"Absolutely do, but I can assure you it's nothing but good things. I can go home back to Nashville tomorrow with peace of mind and plenty of comfort knowing that when I'm not here you'll always have Brexley to be there for you, if I can't be, and there's nothing in this world that makes me happier,"
Before anyone had a chance to respond my phone dinged so I checked it only to see Kane's name on my screen again.
Hey beautiful, I was wondering if you'd like to maybe grab dinner with me tonight?
"Hey Andy, you remember that Kane guy I told you about?"
"That guy you met at the festival a few days back?"
"Yeah, well he just texted me and asked me if I wanted to have dinner tonight,"
"Then why haven't you said Yes yet?"
"Because I'm here spending the night with you, and it's my time with you guys, I have plenty of time to go on a dinner date with Kane,"
"You're saying yes, you're going on that date, I'm meeting him, you're gonna have some fun, and then we're gonna have more wine after the date, so let's finish eating, because now we have to go get you prepped up and ready for your date,"
With that response I texted Kane back.
Hey! Absolutely, I'd love to.
Great! I'll pick you up at seven, where should I pick you up?
I send him Andy's address and leave it at that.
"Okay, so he said he's picking me up here at 7. I gave him the address so he has it, so we shall see him then,"
"Wait, you were his ride here weren't you?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Then how is he picking you up?"
"Probably has a rental car, or his brother has a car and he's borrowing it, I don't know for sure,"
