Hey, I know you're busy with your parents right now, but I was wondering if you'd like to have dinner with Mason and I tonight maybe?

A text rang through my phone, taking me out of my thoughts of the conversations I was having with my parents but I decided I was going to not check it.

"Aren't you going to get that?" My mom asked stopping in the middle of her conversation with my dad.

"No, I'm listening to you and dad, I don't want to be rude,"

"It could be important, and we're not talking to you at the moment, so please check it, it could be from your boss about your article love,"

"Okay I'll check it,"

I turned over my phone to be presented with a text from Kale asking about dinner tonight as a guest with him and Mason. "It was Kale asking if I wanted to have dinner with him and Mason tonight,"

"I think you should go, if you get a call to go back home to Nashville, just stop by before you go back, and we'll plan a visit to come out asap deal?"

"Deal, but I suppose I should get my bag and you guys could help me pick something and mom could help me get ready to be presentable at the very least."

"That's true, I mean how many times do you really get to do this for your kids?" My mom responded chuckling.

"I'm game," Dad replied, standing up from his chair at the island in the kitchen.

"Also I think that you still have some dresses and outfits that you left when you came home in college on all your breaks through the years, and you haven't grown too much since junior and senior year. I think we all should go have a look, plus since the last time you were home we did do some spring cleaning to your liking, remember?" Mom threw in. I chuckled at her humor as she always remembers the small details about me, even if we've had rocky moments in our relationship.

In our conversation I forgot that I needed to text Kale back to let him know that tonight was perfect so I pulled out my phone to do let him know that tonight was a yes.

Yes, tonight is perfect, I can't wait to meet Mason!

Great! Be at our place at 7! It's my same apartment that I lived in for years since high school of course, you still know where that is right?

Yes, of course I do!

Okay, great! I do plan to move soon though I promise! We'll have that discussion soon I promise! Love you xx

Okay boo! See you tonight! Love you too xx

After finishing up my conversation with Kale I got up from the island, slid my phone back into the pocket of my pants and led my parents to my old bedroom upstairs where I grew up every night.

This was my whole entire home, my forever home. It will always be my home, no matter what.

~Little Bit Of A Time Skip Here~

After a long thirty minute rummage of three people who couldn't make up their minds, an outfit, a pair of shoes, a hair style, and a style of make-up had finally been chosen which meant things could finally get started and finished.

"Okay, mom I'm going to go to my bathroom, you're going to do my hair and make-up, then i'm going to get dressed, then we'll get pictures or whatever, and then I'll go to dinner at Kale's and call you after to tell you how things went, yeah?"

"Yes, that would be lovely, now come on let's go, this took us forever and we only have two hours, you got here very late!"

"Yes, I did. Yes, let's do that." I replied hurrying myself into the bathroom where I could get myself situated so that mom could do my hair and make-up.

"Okay, let's start with your hair then,"

"Ahh, you look beautiful honey. I think you look gorgeous,"

"You're finished already?"

"I sure am, go ahead and take a look,"

I stood up off of the small stool that sat in the middle of the bathroom, and took a look in the mirror only to see a beautiful braided hairstyle, with a simple smokey eye, and beautiful winged eyeliner, with some mascara, and simple lip gloss to pull it all together. I smile happily at the look my mom pulled together.

"I love it mom, thank you,"

"You're welcome, now go put on your outfit, quick you're gonna be late," I go to my room and grab the outfit that my parents helped me choose for the special dinner tonight with Kale and Mason off my bed.

The outfit they picked was a dress I wore back home in college when I was dating Harrison. It was our three year anniversary, my parents were making this whole big speech about how much they really liked him, and how much they wanted to see us end up together in the future blah blah blah, yata yata yata, anyways, it's a really beautiful dress, and can be used for more occasion than one, and I believe this occasion is a better one than the other one was anyways.

I've moved on from Harrison anyways, I don't even like talking about him, he really hurt me pretty badly, and I don't like to talk about why.

I slipped on the dress, and heels that had been carefully chosen by us, then walked downstairs to show my parents what I looked like. The dress and heels still fit me perfectly just like they did back then, if not better, since I've filled out even more nicely since college if I do say so myself.

"You look gorgeous honey, and I think that Kale's fiance Mason is going to absolutely love you. I'm so happy that you have come home to meet him, for Kale," Dad said looking up from his game on the TV, that had him completely wrapped up.

"Like I said earlier dad, Kale wanted my approval, and if my approval means that much to him, I'm going to put my problems aside with Harrison, to make that drive here, and give him that approval because Kale and Andy mean that much to me. I love them both, they are my best friends, the only two friends I had in high school, so therefore I'm going to be there when they need me even as adults, friendships like that don't come often so I'm going to keep them for as long as I possibly can,"

"I'm so very proud of the woman that you have become and I get over how amazing you are. I know that we may have bumpy times and rocky roads here and there in our relationship, I know that parents and children aren't supposed to be best friends, that we are supposed to be your parents, but there's no real rule book on parenting, so there's no real actual facts on whether we can be your best friends too or not, but when due we are your parents too, when you need it we're there for you, when you're messing up we put you on the right path. That's our job as your parents, point is we love you so much, and we're so happy that you're our daughter, so I think you should get your phone, keys and get your hind end on outta here, you got dinner. Shouldn't keep your friends waiting, maybe you can tell us all about it over lunch tomorrow, yeah?"

"I'd love to! I'll see you guys tomorrow, bye. I love you!"

"We love you too!"
