--My POV--

It’s been at least a week since I saw everyone. Koda would go to Sam’s during the day, and come back at night. Sometimes he doesn’t want to go to Sam’s but he never told me why. I thought I was ready to go back. I took Koda with me, and walked to Sam’s house. Before I walked through the back door, I put Koda down, and held his hand. He tried to hold me back, ‘come on mama. Let’s not be rude and just walk through the back door. Let’s go through the front door.’ I shrugged as he led me towards the front. I was ready to open it, till Alana opened the door, ‘KAYA! What are you doing here?’

Me: I came here to see everybody. You know, hang out.

Alana: you know, I don’t think that’s a good idea.

She tried pushing me backwards but I walked passed her,

Me: I don’t understand why you guys don’t want me,

While saying that, I walked into the house. I stopped talking when I saw it. My world just slowed down. I felt my heart break. I felt a headache coming. Tears started forming in my eyes. I clenched my teeth together, looking away. I felt every eye on me, but Seth’s and hers. They were too busy flirting with each other to even notice I walked in. Jake, Sam, Quil, Paul, and Embry bolted up,

Sam: Kaya….

I can tell he was speechless. He didn’t think I’d be coming back too soon. Once Sam said my name, Seth and the girl around his arm, stopped what they were doing and looked at me. Koda squeezed my hand and tried tugging on me. Seth cleared his throat, let go of the girl, and took a step forward towards me. ‘Kaya, this is Kayla. Kayla, this is Kwoli’s sister, Kaya.’ He said. I heard that name before. Kayla.. She also looks familiar.

She smiled at me,

Kayla: hey, it’s nice to meet you. Hey Koda, it’s nice to see you!

Me: K-Kayla Trinidad?

Kayla: how do you know my last name?

Me: I, uh, you moved down the street from my family.

Kayla: oh yeah, Kwoli’s sister. Duh, you live with your brother. Of course, I’m stupid.

Me: uh yeah. I’m Kaya. You can call me Kai or Qahla if you want.

Kayla: I can feel us becoming great friends!

Me: yeah,

Seth smiled, grabbed her waist, pulled her towards him, and kissed her cheek. Well, there goes my happyness and my love, I thought to myself. There was an awkward silence in the room after my response. Koda tugged on me, I kneeled down and he whispered in my ear, ‘I want to go for a run.’ I nodded and stood back up, and said, ‘Koda and I are going for a, uh, walk. We’ll be back later.’ We walked out the door and headed towards the forest. We phased, and ran. I read his mind about what happened while I was gone.

He introduced everyone to her the next day after our talk. They kiss, they flirt, they laugh, they smile, they snuggle, they bet, they play games, and they treat Koda like their own son. Koda loved the way Seth has been treating him, but doesn’t want to replace me as his mom. He likes Kayla, but she isn’t me. That’s why he doesn’t want to go to Sam’s house anymore. He doesn’t like that Seth has been replacing me.

I remembered where she was from. I perfectly remember why she looked familiar, why her name sounded familiar. I used to have dreams about her. Not creepy dreams about her, but nightmares. She’s not a monster, but in my dreams or nightmares, she would take Seth away from me, leaving me there, heart broken.

We finished our run, and went back to Sam’s. It was around lunch, and everyone was eating. The usual seats are still arranged. Koda still sits next to me, I still sit next to Sam. I still sit in front of Seth, and now there’s a new seat arranged for Kayla. When Koda and I sat down, we didn’t talk, or look up from our plates. The kitchen was more quiet then usual. Everyone sat there in silence, but Seth and Kayla. A little mumbles now and then from the rest.

I couldn’t take the silence, so I excused myself from the table, and went upstairs to my room, wanting to take a nap. I lied down on my side, tears running down my face. Wiping each one that slid down my cheeks. I heard footsteps coming closer to my door, and I shut my eyes, pretending I was sleeping. Someone walked in and sat at the side of my bed. I heard them whisper, ‘I told you that you would regret you ever said that. I’m happy, but I want you to be happy.’ A kiss was planted on the top of my head, and the person stood up and walked out the door. I opened my eyes, to find myself looking at the back of Seth’s back.
