Arielle's pov...
Long car rides with no exact destination are usually calming and fun. But this one, this one is different. As soon as we got in the car none of us said a word, not even a squeak. The radio was playing quietly in the background, but because of the silence it seems louder. I press my head against the window and watch the rain droplets fall down the window, racing each other as they did. It is weird seeing it rain in the middle of summer, but I guess there needs to be slight showers here and there. The sun is still blazing through my window, causing me to squint my eyes here and there. I close my eyes and listen to the melodic music feed through my ears and out the other. I start to pat my leg and silently sing along to the music.

"Blackbirds singing in the dead of night-"

"-Take these broken wings and learn to fly." Morcar joins in whilst patting the steering wheel.

"All your life-" Coraline uses her angelic voice and joins in.

"-You were only waiting for this moment to arise." Charlie sings with his low voice. I turn to the back of the car and smile at both of them before turning the song up a notch. We all take a deep breath and laugh before singing the next part of the song all together. I push my head back into the seat slightly and smile through the words as we all sing together. That's the thing about music, it can make you feel a certain way. So nostalgic, so relaxing. Even during the worst moments of life music is always there to pat you on the back.

"That was Blackbirds by the Beatles coming to you from Radio- '' I turned the volume of the radio down and put my hand back on the window. I trace my hands along the raindrops that were dripping down it quickly.

"Someone's phones ringing." I observe before turning around to everyone else. "I think it's yours." I turn to Morcar and put my hand on his jumper pocket. I pull out his phone and give it to him without looking at it.

"Shit." Morcar quickly says before pulling over on the pavement. He takes the phone out of my hands and steps out the car.

Morcar's pov...

"Hello?"

"Hi." A sweet voice comes from the other side of the phone. I was taken aback when I heard that voice, mostly because I thought it was my father calling.

"Whose this?"

"You know who this is honey." I hold my breath and squeeze my eyes shut.

"M-mum? Why are you calling me?"

"I just wanted to hear your voice." I could see her smile on the other side of the phone. She didn't sound upset or anything. She sounds like, nothing.

"You only called to hear my voice? Never mind about the few years that you haven't seen me. I missed you mum, I needed you, and you left me. You left me with dad. Why did you go away?" I threw all of these accusations at her all at once to try and find the answers I have been looking for for years. The other line stayed silent, she didn't answer me. "W-was it me?"

"No. I couldn't handle staying."

"Why?" She let out a single huff and sighed.

"I didn't want you Morcar.." Those five words were enough to make the lump in my throat build. I can feel the emotions trying to spew out of me but I force them back down, not allowing them to embarrass me.

"Then why did you call me? You shouldn't use people mum. Or should I even call you that? Seeming as you didn't want me."

"Morcar no it isn't like that-"

"Then what is it then? What is this exactly?"

"I want you now, Morcar. I am ready to try this mum thing out again. What do you say?" I froze on her words, contemplating whether to say yes or no.
