*After about 30 more minutes of walking, Arielle, Coraline and Morcar make it to the car. Morcar gets into the driver's seat and Coraline places herself in the back, leaving Arielle in the passenger seat. They have been travelling in the car for about 10 minutes.*
The mountains in the distance pull the soft clouds into their reach and intertwined themselves and became one. I love the way the mountains look, they start with a dusty grey colour and as they build up they start to turn white with the dots of snow gently sprinkled onto them.
Wow. This world is truly beautiful, and really something that people, like me, certainly do not cherish enough. I have been thinking ever since that man was murdered in cold blood, that, really, when you think about it, death is truly inevitable. I have heard the statement that people can 'cheat death' and 'hold it off for longer' but when it comes to the harsh truth, sometimes, there is no way of doing that. Sure you can hold it off for sometime, but it is always coming.
Death craves the lives of others, and itches to take them even when it isn't even their time to go. When you come face to face with it, it truly is one son of a bitch.
"What you thinking about?" Morcar asked quietly.
"Nothing really, just how beautiful these mountains look," I reply back almost silently.
"You're not wrong there, they are pretty awesome."
"Yeah, they are," I smile as I carry on gazing out the window going into a world of my own. Coraline had fallen asleep as soon as we got into the car, she must've been tired. That is something I noticed about Coraline, she always is sleeping, maybe she didn't get much sleep at night. But then maybe she did, I would not even know.
Coraline never really shared many things about herself, I knew very little about her thinking about it. Maybe she didn't like opening up to people because of something that happened in her past, but I guess I'll never know.
Flashback from Coraline's pov..
"Hey what's up?" My brother looked at me before coming over to sit beside me. "You know you can tell me anything, I will never tell anyone, whatever you say to me in confidence I will not repeat okay?" He smiles at me and I look at him and simply smile back.
"It's really not a big deal.." I lie. I don't want to worry him so I just told him that everything was okay.
"There were many things that mother and father taught us but one thing they never did was lying. That's why you're so bad at it," He looks at me and his smile fades and becomes more of a serious stare. "Now tell me, because I'm worried."
"Fine, but you promise me that you will not tell mum and dad?"
"I swear on my life," He still had that serious look that he had had for far too long now.
"So I was out with Bethe the other day, you know her, my nice friend who lives down Delany, well anyway we were hanging out and we were reading this book that we had found in the library. Well, before we started to read the first page specifically said NEVER to try the spells that were in this book, so we flicked the page and started reading. And err- before we knew it we were trying out a spell that we found in there. B- but I promise it was safe! "
"What was the book called?"
"The dark side of magic," All of a sudden my brother's hand connects perfectly with my face and he slaps me. I knew it really hurt because I could already feel how hot my face was.
"Why the hell would you do that? Are you stupid! Do not ever talk to me again. You did the one thing that we were ever forbidden to do."
"Brother..."
