It's been two years since I was forced to move from Galapanda to Mortinger and I still hate every second of it. Everyone here lives the same boring lives and does the same boring things. Single. Day. They wake up, get into their boring shabby clothes and go to the places they need to be. There's only two shops in the whole entire village, one for your groceries; one for your clothes. There was the occasional bar or restaurant but they soon got closed down because of the lack of money Mortinger made. The people don't tend to leave here, it's like they're trapped in a reality that they can't break out of.

Galapanda was so much more magical, the people were always so happy and vibrant, not going a minute without having a conversation with the person that they have just come across. Everyone there admired me, they all loved me because of the cool magic spells that I would come up with.

I had two best friends there, one called Valentina and the other Melanie. Valentina had platinum blonde hair with fair skin and dark blue eyes. She was a little taller than me and had a beautiful angelic voice. Her nickname was the tinker touch, as you can guess she was amazing at making new things but she always made sure to add a tinge of magic into it to make things even cooler. She made wondrous things such as the talking tree, a tree so smart it would answer any question given. We named him Pertrice, after the leader of the town.

Melanie, on the other hand, was the complete opposite of Valentina. She had a bronze tone to her skin and she had dark brown locks. People called her 'the extraordinaire' this was because she could shape shift into any object that she caught sight of. She changed into many things, trees, bushes, rocks. Before I left, Melanie was trying to conquer the ability to turn into bigger things, such as towers and humans. Amazing, right?

Then there's me. There is nothing exactly special about me. I have long brown hair with magical green eyes. My skin was tanned but not too tanned and my nickname back home was the 'Althea Gargoyle'. They call me this back home because I practice my magic for good things and my speciality is healing. My name is actually Arielle, but no one in Galapanda calls me that.

I remember telling them that I had to move away to Mortinger, let's say they were not very happy to say the least. Their emotions were like a mix of anger and sadness begging me to stay. Obviously I would've said yes in a heartbeat, but it was my mother that forced me to leave because she said it would be better for me to go. You see, my father died in Galapanda so mother wanted a fresh new start, but, in all honesty, I didn't care. I wanted to stay in Galapanda with my friends, my father didn't matter to me at that point in time. We never had a strong relationship you see, he would go away for months at a time practising black magic. Although I never agreed with black magic; I couldn't stop him.

What I loved about Galapanda was that everyone loved using magic and everyone believed. But in Mortinger it is forbidden to practice any type of magic otherwise you'll be burned at the stake. You also couldn't practice because it was believed to disturb the gods which was far from true. Did you know Monskully, who used magic to help keep control of her town at the time, is one of the most important Goddesses to this town? I mean, they obviously debunk this but it is true. She wrote many interesting books on all types of shield spells she created to protect the villagers, but the town burnt all books that showed evidence of her saying this. Despite the law of the town, I still kept all of my magic books and my new spells that are in the making. If it wasn't for magic, I would've been sucked into the boringness of this wretched town a long time ago.

I go to The School of Gloopers. Gloopers was a Viking that came to Mortinger thousands of years ago and set some boring rules. Many of the rules consisted of: no magic (obviously); no going out after 10pm and you couldn't wear red. So I don't know if Gloopers was a boring old man but 10 pm?! I mean come on. Also we can't wear red because it was thought to resemble the devil and the blood from the witches spells which is utterly crazy. There were many other rules, but if I sat here and listed all of the rules it would last decades. I don't know why we still follow Gloopers' rules, he separated peoples families because he didn't think that they were right together. For example, he wouldn't allow certain people to be friends due to the colour of their hair; the colour of their eyes and their genders. We know this because he wrote it in his books and all the books are in the library at school. You see why I hate this town now?
