"Hey," the voice said, startling Luz.

When Luz turned her head to the side, she saw her best friend, Amity Blight, standing beside her, seeming to ponder something.

"Yeah?" Luz asked, a smile making its way on her face as she made eye contact with Amity.

Amity stared at her wide-eyed before looking back down at the floor, her eyebrows pressed against each other as she fiddled with her fingers.

"Um," she began, trying to find the right words. "Okay, uh- is- I'm not trying to- ugh."

She groaned.

"Are you getting tired of me?"

Luz's smile dropped instantly upon hearing those words.

As soon as Amity said that, she looked back up at Luz so as to get any kind of answer, surprised at Luz's facial expression.

"Sorry." Amity quietly whispered, jerking her head back in front of her.

"No." Luz's senses immediately kicked back in again, putting her hand on Amity's shoulder. "Are you okay?"

"Of course."

"Amity." She stopped in place, holding Amity back. "Are you sure? No one asks those kinds of questions without reason to. If there's something bothering you or if there's something you need to talk about, you can. No one's holding you back."

"There's nothing bothering me, it's just-" Amity sighed, shaking her head as she turned back to Luz. "It's just that we've been spending time together every single day, and a part of me is thinking that I force you to when I ask."

"I- I don't have any other friends. I don't do anything else in this town except go to school, run errands, and, well, I guess hang with you. I kinda just ask you or show up at your house. If you have other plans or want to do anything else without me, say something. I don't want you to feel forced to do something with me because I'm always asking."

"Amity..." Luz slightly smiled, tilting her head. "That's what you're worried about?"

"A little." She looked off to the side, a frown on her face.

Immediately, Luz laughed quietly, nudging Amity.

"Hey." She said, catching her attention. "Amity, I always say yes because I want to say yes. You're like, the only person other than my sister that actually gets me. You don't think I'm weird for what I like, or what I do, or how I act. You like me for me and I like you for you. I wouldn't wanna change that. I like this. I love ya, you know?"

Amity's eyes widened.

"Huh?"
