"Okay, I'm gonna repeat what I think you said, just so I can make sure I'm not hearing this wrong." Eda, who was sitting at the dining table, spoke, her fingers intertwined as she had her elbows on the table, looking up at Lucía.

"Your little girlfriend-friend-thing-whatever hasn't been coming into work, you got worried about her, went over to her apartment to go check on her, you saw her crying on the floor because she was getting evicted or something, you immediately volunteered to pay her rent and promise you'd stay with her?"

"Uh." Lucía, who was tapping her foot from underneath the table, leaned forwards in the chair, her fingers intertwined together as her elbows were on the table as well, pressing her lips against her hands. In response to Eda's question,  she bit the inside of her lip and gazed around the room with her eyes, finally letting out a pop. "Yeah, sounds about it."

"You're a dumbass."

"Excuse me?" Lucía moved her head back a bit and furrowed her eyebrows, scoffing as she then let go of her hands and dropped her right arm onto the table, her other still being held up.

"Do you even know how much rent costs, Lucía? No, so I don't know why you didn't think before you made a decision like that!"

"Really?" Lucía rolled her eyes, groaning as she then layed back in her chair. "I thought you would be on board with this. What happened to 'on-the-spot decisions show what kind of person you are', huh? What happened to that?" She spoke in a mocking tone, clenching her teeth afterwards.

"I just wish you thought about it a little more and let me know about it first. This is a big decision, Lucía. I'm not trying to sound like an ass." Eda sighed as she dropped her hands onto the table, stretching it out on the table for Lucía to grab.

"Yeah, well you are." Lucía ignored Eda's attempt and crossed her arms, making Eda quietly groan as she pulled back her hand, leaning back in her chair as well.

"I'm sorry. Why didn't you invite her to stay over here? I'm sure we could've found something for her."

"And make her live in a home that can barely fit all of us? Yeah, no." She said as she then put her tongue against her cheek, now looking turning her head to look down at the ground. "Besides, I don't think you could handle another person. I know you gave me that whole speech and everything yesterday, but we all have our limits."

"Besides, I just want to help her!" Lucía, who was now looking straight at Eda, now had her hands pressed onto the table, standing up a bit in her chair. "Mom, you said that I should always help people in need, and I'm doing that right now! Amelia is in a rough spot, and I can be there to help her!"

"I'm old enough to be making these kind of decisions! Hell, I should be making these kind of decisions!" She then slammed her hands onto the table, now fully standing up. "I'm not going to live with you anymore, mom. I've lived here too long, and with everyone now living here, I should leave!"

"Judge me all you want, but I'm not changing my mind! You wanna talk shit? Fine! But I'm going to be helping someone I care about, so what the hell's the problem?!"
