"Mum what- mum leave the dishwasher alone!" I swat her hand away just as she was about to open it. "I can put away my own dishes and you're a guest. Why don't you go ahead and go to bed? You're probably tired from the drive." And I'm very tired of having her fuss over the house and try to clean up. While I may love her dearly the woman doesn't know when to stop.
"I slept during the drive here darling, honestly there must be something I can do..." she trails off, raising an eyebrow. I throw my hands in the air and exit the kitchen, my mother trailing behind me.
"No really," I tell her as we sit down on the couch next to where Dad is reading the paper he brought with him. "The house is as clean as it needs to be, Cailyn is put to bed and all that's left to do is sleep." I fold my feet up beside me and lean my head on her shoulder. "Honestly, you make me feel five years younger mothering all over the place. It's terrible." I lift my head up slightly and tap my dad's leg. "Tell her it's terrible Dad!"
He harrumphs and chuckles at us before turning the page of his paper.
"Some help you are..." I giggle and lean back into mom. "I'm glad you guys could come though."
"I'm glad too dear," she tells me as she pats my head a little. "I must tell you again, your little apartment here is divine. I'd move in with you if I could. It's cute and cozy, I love it."
"But you have your own little cute cottage with dad, remember that." I remind her. Cailyn was absolutely thrilled to find out that her grandparents had come down to visit. And for her birthday too! She ran around giving them a grand tour of the place and sat up for as long as she was allowed chattering to them. I finally sent her to bed, telling her she would have plenty of time to visit over the next few days. It's been a welcome distraction after being disappointed by Liam. I mean I understand, but couldn't he slip off for a few hours tomorrow? I thought he would be important enough to get some time off if he asked. By some miracle mom hasn't brought him up yet. She somehow manages to slip him into conversation at least twice a week. I mean, excuse me, bring him up casually with maybe an implication of following her previous advice to er... seduce him essentially.
Maybe it's a good thing he's not coming, now that I think of it.
This is kind of crap I'm sorry
Hope you're having a pleasant day, I am because I got some beautiful wedge sandals and they make me like 4 inches taller ;)
