"So," I mumble to Louis as we hurry down a busy hallway at the courthouse "how much of a headache should this be for us?" I eye the professionally dressed people bustling around me, clutching briefcases or important looking files. We've found ourselves in court shortly after Colin had gathered all of the information that he had needed. We hadn't exactly figured out how Colin was supposed to keep an eye on Liam and pull him in for the judge to see him at the same time. Louis has reassured me that if all goes according to plan today, we can leave and pick up Tessie to bring her home with us just as soon as we're done here. In that case it wouldn't particularly matter whether or not Colin is fired, Louis's already appointed him to be Liam's part-time therapist or something, to be a consultant popping in and out of whatever rehab facility we might manage to put him into. My ankle boots tap the floor as we hurry down to our courtroom, it matches the sound of the heels all the women here are wearing.
"Headaches? Hopefully none, that'd be wonderful if I hired someone so we could sail smoothly through all this legal stuff and then end up with shite-load of paperwork."
"Shhhh!" I scold him, glancing around to see if anyone has heard him. Luckily there is too much conversation going on all over the room for anyone to have overheard. I doubt they'd really care, but it seems wrong in such a formal place. "I just want to hurry and get this over with. I want Tessie back with me, safe and sound."
"And she will be!" he rubs my back as he pushes me along. I hope he knows where we are going because I've lost sense of where we are. "Now, all we have to do is say what we know and everything should be tied up quickly." He pulls to a stop in front of a large wooden door. His hand rests on the handle, but he pauses to give me a side hug and look into my eyes. "You're alright? Not too tense or worried or anything?"
I inhale and exhale slowly before grinning back at him. "I'm ready if you are."
He nods, a confident smirk on his face. "Then let's do this!"
