Meeting Sophia

After a few weeks of Liam dropping Theresa off in the mornings and then picking her back up again, I open to door one day to find not Liam, but Sophia standing there with Theresa beside her. She nods to me in greeting and hands over Tessie's bag.

"I've included an extra snack for her today, she's gotten addicted to these new biscuits and I'm sure she's been asking for them while she's over." she tells me briskly. "I put them in the side pocket."

"That's great, thank you. She had asked for those cookies a few times and I wasn't sure where to get them." I tell her as I peak into the side pocket and then put Theresa's diaper bag away. We've created a sort of cubby complete with a storage container for things she wants to leave over here and we put her bag in it so we don't get confused by leaving it in the living room one day and the bedroom another.

"Oh don't worry about that, if there is anything that she asks for specifically or that's rather expensive, just tell us and we'll get some for you." she pulls Tessie so she's angled towards her. "Give mum a kiss, Theresa," Tessie leans in and places a quick peck on Sophia's cheek before spotting Cailyn in peaking out from the kitchen and running off without a backward glance. Sophia watches her go while I stand there slightly awkwardly. Then she seems to shake herself and she faces me again.

"I'm glad to have met you. I had wanted to, you can only learn so much about a child and what needs to be done from the father you know."

"I'm glad too. I probably should have come sooner, but work has been a nightmare. Not that I don't enjoy it, I do. It's just so busy." she shakes her head, making her hair sway elegantly. Everything she does is poised and beautiful. "I think you're doing a quite good job however. Theresa talks about you two, your daughter is a bit older correct?"

"Yes, Cailyn is probably a little over a year older. They get along so well, it's amazing. I'm glad Cailyn's able to have a friend through this. It's a very nice pro." I smile at Sophia and she lifts her lips a little in return.

"How nice. Are you married then? Liam never mentioned it." she says it so casually I almost don't feel threatened by her prodding for information. Or is that just my paranoia? Surely she looked over my personal information when I filled out the contract and sent in my résumé and such.

"No, I'm not married. Cailyn's father is out of the picture." I shrug and lean on the door frame.

"I see." she pauses and then switches topics completely. "Do you enjoy this job Miss Sandoval?"

"Please, just call me Isabella. And I do, I enjoy it very much. Te-Theresa is a sweet child and really no trouble at all. I feel like this job was pretty much dropped into my lap, everything seemed so coincidental. But so far it's worked out wonderfully, I think."

"I would agree. It's a lucky chance of circumstances." She glances down at her wristwatch and winces slightly. "I'm sorry, It would seem that I'm running late, excuse me." She readjusts her purse on her arm and reaches forward to shake my hand.

"Of course, thanks for bringing her over and it was lovely meeting you."

"I agree, I'll have to bring her over more often. I have a few questions about some of the methods you're using." my stomach drops a little at that comment.  She sighs and continues "But that's not incredibly important. In any case, have a good day."

"You too!" I call out as she walks down towards her car. I hope whatever it is she wants to talk to me about isn't very significant. Liam, I've come to be less and less starstruck by him. But Sophia? Even she wasn't beautiful and famous I would still be nervous. The mother's good opinion is the one that really matters.

So semi-short update. I'm at a...well I'm at a Debate Tournament with my friend and her family and it's several days long. Depending on how busy and how tired I get these updates might get shorter and shorter. But I should still be able to, as there is wifi. Leave me some feedback or a vote please!!
