Have you ever met a writer? They are weird, they are insane and maybe that's why they are desperate but amazing.
Shane and Jenny were like seasons.
Winter's cold, summer's warmth, spring's charm, and monsoon's life. Seasons are witnessed once in a year, and it felt like the number of times they met was a little lesser than the number of times Hailey's comet. It almost felt like seasons passed in two meetings, where they would act like they never met before and it's new, sometimes it worked out to restart but sometimes when you have come so far and restarting all over again hurts much more.
Months had passed since the last time they met at keybosh, they both laced depth but weren't deprived of distance. Shane grew up waiting for things to happen and it seemed like it had become his comfort zone. Until he met her. Everyone will tell you to trust the timing but do they give you the guarantee that in the end, you get what you want? No, right?
Shane was too afraid to lose her he didn't wish to leave everything to chances, luck, and destiny. For once, he wanted to take full control of what happens.
In time, in those few months, they got to know about each other so much that at one point maybe she knew more about him than he himself. And he was completely okay with that. There was one thing that was sad, she never acknowledged things. In a first-paced world to be together is not easy, especially if even one of the two doesn't wish the same or tries to be together, but fortunately, they found a way through this. The oldest way, the classiest way, and the best thing that happened to them.
'Letters', although they used e-mail, unfortunately. Shane had first asked for a handwritten letter because when they used to talk he had understood one thing that she was a marvelous writer who has a lot bottlenecked, she just needs a way to let go of herself, and then she would just evolve into 'a silver phoenix' (that's what he first thought of when he wanted to transform her into a character, the story didn't turn out to be what she expected but the character stayed).
He wanted to 'change' her although she detested everyone who wanted her to be a particular kind, for her it was like someone ripping her skin off. 'Change' is the word but the 'change' he wanted to bring about was to shift the spotlight to that shade of her that she kept hidden.
It was like her true self was sealed inside her but when touched the right chord that side leaked out in a major high note. And he wanted the first thing that she writes, with innocence, honesty and her heart be a letter to him and him alone. This wouldn't surprise anyone that after a month's wait, the day he was going to get a letter from her, she didn't get it. Although, a day later she did type it and sent it. But he always wondered whether the letter would have carried her scent, whether the words would have made imagine her voice speaking it out and whether her handwriting was as charming as she was. Her handwriting was worse than his, he never dared to say that to her. He had seen her handwriting twice. First, when she had made chits for his events during the fest, and a second time when they were in the library, he had some lecture going on which he bunked to spend time with her.
He was a very honest stalker. He would prefer to say it out loud. He met Jenny early morning when she decided to come early enough to spend some time with herself. He knew her lecture timings and had bunked for the first time to roam around college, waiting to meet her when she came.
They first went to the cafeteria to grab a cup of coffee for themselves.
They both sat beside each other and didn't say anything for a while.
"What are you planning for Joyce's birthday?", he asked her breaking the silence.
"We are planning to go to her house and you are also coming but we guys haven't decided on her gift. We are clueless and it's shameful. I, Carol, and Joyce spend so much time together and am not able to figure out what she would like".
