As my brain started to wake up. I heard the sound of breathing. Someone was touching me. I felt a sharp pain of anxiety in my chest as cold metal clamped around my wrists and ankles. I was trapped.

I knew it was pointless trying to escape, every time I resisted things got worse. So I stayed frozen in fear, reliving a nightmare that had haunted me so many times before.

Then I heard his voice, the voice that had taunted me, that I had quickly learnt to fear. I couldn't see him, but I knew he was there, I felt a gust of wind surround me as he whispered in my ear.

"You are so pathetic, so weak." His tone mocked me as he continued. I still couldn't see him but I felt him running his hand down my waist, making me shudder.

"You are enjoying this aren't you? Disgusting! Whatever would your friends think if they saw you now..."
My heart dropped like a stone. I could not breathe. I had to escape this. I pulled at the chains holding me and to my surprise I was able to move one of my hands. As I did so it brushed against something warm and that was enough to shock me awake, I gasped for air like I had been suffocating. Shock rushing through me as I felt an arm wrapped around my waist. I sat up and shoved it away. Only to realise it was just Kai. What was he doing here! Memories flooded back to me. That's right. We were at home. He had fallen asleep and I must have too. One of my arms was numb from where I had clearly been lying on it. With blurry eyes I tried shaking some life back into it. Clenching my teeth at the pins and needles as blood flowed back into it again. A cold breeze blew in from the open window behind the couch. I saw Kai stir. I instantly felt guilty seeing I had nearly shoved him off the couch in my panic. He was lying with his head hanging partly over the side of it now.

"Whoa buddy! Are you alright?" At the sound I whipped up my head. I broke out in a cold sweat as the transparent figure of a ghostly form stood across the room from me. Then I realised it was just Cole, watching me with a worried expression. He was holding his phone in one hand but he placed it in his pocket as he hurried over to see if I was okay.

I tried really hard not to show how much I was shaking. Taking a deep breath. Trying to calm down.
"Yeah I'm f-fine." I said quickly. I leant  over the back of the couch to close the window as another cold gust of air blew inside.

"It's just.. really cold." I said quietly. Hoping he would think that's why I was shaking so much. I didn't make eye contact with him, but I could feel him staring at me and knew he was still worried.

"What's going on?" Kai moaned as he rolled over then let out a little shriek as he rolled to far and fell to the floor. That made Cole laugh, breaking the tension I felt a little.

"Agh why did you guys have to wake me up?" Kai groaned. "I was having a wonderful dream, I was the most powerful ninja ever." He mumbled sleepily as he slowly crawled back onto the couch. "And I had twelve pet puppies. They were so cute! And they all became ninjas. "

I couldn't help but laugh. Of course Kai would have a dream like that. Cole patted me on the back and gave me one last serious. Are you sure you are okay? stare.

I nodded. "I'm fine." I mumbled.

"I'm.. also fine." Kai said sleepily dropping his head onto my lap and yawing.

Cole grinned. "You guys are so cute, I got back here five minutes ago and you were both snuggling. I got pictures. Also the show was still playing, I turned it off for you since you weren't watching it."

I felt my face heating up.

"What? Pictures? Let me see!" Kai exclaimed, sitting up awake instantly.

Cole began to take his phone from his pocket and Kai tried to snatch it from his hand.

"Hey wait." Cole exclaimed. He unlocked his phone and found the pictures then passed the phone to Kai. I leaned over to see the pictures too.

"See?" Cole laughed. "So cute."

Kai looked like a little baby when he slept, his arm resting over my waist and his face snuggled into my back. Cole must have crept around for a while as there was heaps of pictures. I could feel the blush that was undoubtedly on my face getting bigger.

A notification popped up on the phone. It was from Nya to our ninja group chat. I read the first few words which where -"OMG that's adorable"- before it disappeared.

"Did you share these to the group chat?" Kai asked, voicing my thoughts as he clicked on the notification.
"Yeah I did." Cole grinned, snatching his phone back.

"You ass Cole. " I grumbled, trying my best to stop blushing and no doubt still looking like a hopeless gay mess.

Kai grinned at me. "It's okay, I have a picture of Jay and Cole making out on a rooftop during last week's cleanup in Stiix. I realise I forgot to share that... Guess I should do that now..."

There suddenly came an indignant shout from the hallway.

"Okay, might I just add, I did try telling Cole it was a bad idea to make out there." Jay interrupted, walking into the living room. "We fell through the roof into someone's bedroom shortly after! It was really embarrassing."

"Damn I wish I had hung around long enough to see that." Kai laughed.

I noticed Jay looked all dressed up. He was wearing a very nice shirt and trousers. A gold stud earring gleamed in his ear. I then noticed Cole also looked pretty fancy. It reminded me they had randomly decided to go out  today. If they were back already me and Kai must have been asleep for a while.

"How did your date go? I asked them.

"Pretty well! We went to the cinema and watched the latest Fritz Donnegan movie. " Cole said. "Jay was so excited, he had been waiting to see it for a while."

"And it was worth it! So good!" Jay exclaimed.

" Don't spoil it! I have to check it out sometime!" I exclaimed excitedly. I loved those movies. But with how busy we had been lately, I hadn't had the time to go see the latest one.

"Yeah, well actually-" Cole began, only to be interrupted by the sound of laughing. The others had returned.

"We are back." I heard Zane exclaim as he walked passed the living room heading for the kitchen followed by Pixal and Nya. They also carried many bags of shopping that looked quite heavy. I sprang up instantly and followed them.

"Do you guys need a hand? I asked.

"Oh hi Lloyd." Nya said awkwardly. "No we are fine thanks."
Pixal exchanged a glance with her, it was like they didn't want me around. 

"Ah okay, jeez, how much stuff do we need?" I asked, ignoring their glances and the pang of anxiety I felt as I moved out of their way and let them pass into the kitchen. I tried to look into one of the bags, but I felt a hand on my shoulder instantly. Making me jump as I hadn't expected it. Kai was standing behind me.

"Ah, let's leave these guys and go outside for a bit." Kai said, ushering me towards the door. 

Okay, something was definitely up. They were all acting weird and secretive. I didn't fight to go back to the kitchen though, if they didn't want me around that was fine…
