LLOYD POV
"Kai, wait!" I shouted after him, but Kai didn't appear to hear me, so I followed him. An ache settled across my chest, and stomach and pressure built up in my head.
Don't freak out now, please. I screamed silently at myself.
Just stay with Kai...
He appeared to be heading in the direction of the destiny bounty.
He probably doesn't know Wu isn't there anymore.
"Wu isn't at the bounty!" I shouted after him. Kai stopped abruptly and glanced over his shoulder at me.
"He's over there" I pointed to where a group of police officers were standing outside a small house not far away. Around it piles of rubble were being removed from the bay. There was yellow caution tape surrounding the area, encompassing at least a good twenty meters of space, behind the flimsy barrier, Misako was crouching over one corner of a giant plastic tarp on the ground. Old relics, such as clay pots, bits of timber from old pirates ships, and other strange items lay scattered across it, and Misako was studying the items intently.
Kai had already rushed over, ducking beneath the tape like it wasn't there, and stepping onto the tarp, getting angry exclamations from the officers watching. Two burly figured policemen rushed towards Kai, and Misako looked up in shock as Kai nearly kicked over one of the old clay pots.
"Get out of here! These are valuable relics!" Misako cried angrily.
I wanted to shout at her but I held myself back.
As long as she doesn't lay a hand on him again...
"Where is Wu?" Kai demanded, ignoring Misako entirely.
"Sir, this is a restricted area. Please step outside the yellow tape." One officer began trying to position his body to block Kai from going any further. Kai stared at him.
"I need to find Wu first." He insisted. I caught my breath sharply as I watched one officer grab his arm. Anger flared in my chest and I ducked beneath the tape in an instant.
"Let him go." I snarled. Clenching my fists at my side.
"Stay back." The other officer said firmly, standing solidly in front of me to block me from getting any further.
Pressure was building up in my head to the point I felt like I was in a rage induced daze.
I'll fucking take you on.
I let out a pent up breath, relaxing my muscles and spoke calmly instead.
"We aren't trying to interfere, but this is important. Has anyone seen Wu?"
The officers simply exchanged a glance with each other.
Stupid, stupid, useless police!
"You ninja think you can do whatever you want around here! You aren't welcome!" someone shouted. I swung around sharply. But I couldn't see who had spoken.
"I'm here Kai," Wu replied, appearing at the doorway of the house nearby. Kai stormed over to Wu until he was standing right up in his face. It didn't intimidate Wu.
"Is this "Jinn" just another crazy person you never told us about!?" Kai demanded. I watched, my fury mounting as the officer twisted Kai's arm.
"Okay! let me go! I'll leave!!" he snapped. I bit down on the inside of my lip and satisfied my desire to knock the officer out cold by simply imagining it rather than acting on the impulse.
