What happens if things never get better?

Thank you everyone who has made it this far and are following the story, despite my updating schedule being all over the place lately. Now, on to stage 2 of the story 😁

I kept editing this chapter for hours and finding more mistakes every time I re-read it... so now I give up I hope it makes sense.

KAI POV

When we arrived at Stiix about half an hour later, the morning sun was getting higher in the sky, casting its light upon the miserable seaside town. But the water was buzzing with life. As we landed on the bay, we were guided away from several police boats and watercraft.

"Keep that flying ship out of the way of police operations!" A woman dressed in a police uniform shouted at us from a small motorboat.

"We are just here to help." I called back. But the policewoman didn't seem impressed.

"Well you are just being a nuisance." she retorted.

I raised my eyebrows at her tone, and turned to Lloyd.

"What's her problem?" I muttered. Lloyd shrugged, barely paying attention. He appeared to be deep in thought.

I mean, we all know why it's so busy here today, and why everyone is in such a bad mood... I mused.

"Too much seafood made her salty?" Jay piped up unhelpfully.

"Probably because they are trying to deal with the remains of all the people they found dead at the bottom of the ocean. It's likely stressing everyone out." Nya muttered darkly.

I didn't know what to say to that, so I just exchanged glance with Jay.

Well, she just said what we were all thinking.

"Chop chop! Everyone to work!!" Wu cried as we arrived at the dock. His voice unnerved me.

Agh shut up!

It's probably needless to say, there was very little enthusiasm among us. After what happened with Misako this morning, and the situation here at Stiix...

And the fact I was even more worried about Lloyd than before, wasn't helping me feel any better.

He didn't eat breakfast either...

I sighed.

I'd rather be anywhere than this godforsaken place.

I moodily settled the boat ramp to the dock. Misako was nowhere to be seen, she'd apparently retired to her room after the incident in the kitchen, or at least that's what Wu had told us.

And good riddence to her, I hope she stays there all day. I thought darkly.

Jay suddenly rushed passed me.

"Me first!" He cried, rushing across the ramp like it was a race.

"Rude. "I muttered.

"Oh shut up." Jay retorted. Suddenly there was a shriek from him and I watched as he tripped and fell splat on the dock.

I couldn't help let out a burst of laughter.

"Don't be mean to my boyfriend." Cole muttered, then he looked over and saw Jay on the ground below and he burst laughing as well, somehow lightening the mood a little.

"Oh fuck you too Cole." Jay muttered, picking himself up. Cole just grinned and walked down to join him.

I looked over my shoulder to see Lloyd standing behind me. He gave me a rueful smile.
