LLOYD POV
"Wake up sleepyhead." I heard a whisper, I twitched as I felt a warm breath on my face.
I groaned and rolled over, my eyes closed tightly, blindly clutching at the blanket wrapped around me and pulling it up to my ears. "mgmmm no, too tired." I muttered.
"Come on, Lloyd, I can't wait any longer!" Kai's voice rang out in despair.
I rolled back over and blinked slowly, remembering I was in the living room. Then I noticed the faint light coming through the window. It was still raining, and the sky was so overcast It looked like it was late afternoon!
I sat up quickly and rubbed the sleep from my eye with the palm of my hand. Kai was sitting on the mattress beside me. His hair was messy and spiked up all over the place. I became painfully aware how messy my hair must look also. I got terrible bed hair.
"It's-what's the time?" I mumbled, my throat felt dry. I rummaged around beside the mattress for my water bottle.
Kai leaned over me and passed me my water.
"it's about 9.00am. We need you in the dining room, it's breakfast time!"
"Okay." mumbled, unscrewing my water bottle lid then taking a long sip of water. I saw a bit of the bandage beneath my shirt poking out under my crumpled sleeve. It looked like it had come loose during the night. I put the lid back on my water bottle and quickly pulled my sleeve back down.
"Do you want me to check that?" Kai asked suddenly. I noticed he was watching me intently. "Probably should put a fresh bandage on it."
I didn't want to say yes, but looking into Kai's soft, yet determined eyes I couldn't refuse. That would only worry him.
"I suppose, but what about.. should we uhh-"
"Come to my room, I'll fix it up there." Kai interrupted. "Is it feeling any better?"
I placed my hand around my bandaged arm and gently squeezed it. It was still sore, but it wasn't as bad as yesterday. The soreness felt a lot like bruising.
"I think it feels a bit better." I responded. I pushed the blankets off and stood up.
I followed Kai to his room and closed the door behind us. I took a deep breath as I rolled up my sleeve and held out my arm so Kai could unwrap the bandage. I tried not to feel sick seeing all the horrible scars revealed as the bandage was removed.
Kai didn't react. Instead he continued removing the bandage and getting a new one ready.
"Did you sleep okay?" He asked.
Blood rushed to my face as I remembered how I had gone to sleep cuddling Kai. I had been so tired. And I hadn't had a single bad dream.
"Yeah, uhh, I slept well." I muttered.
I hope he thinks nothing of it. I was just cold.
Don't lie to yourself. You have feelings for him. You want to tell him.
"That's good, it was kind of cold last night." Kai looked over my arm.
"I think it's just bruising, thankfully." he said as he began wrapping the new bandage around my arm gently.
I felt terrible that Kai was having to look after me like this. But my heart felt warm at the fact that he hadn't reacted badly. He wasn't giving me any sympathy, or pity, just being practical and showing genuine concern.
He is way too kind to me...
Once Kai finished wrapping the bandage again, I pulled my sleeve down once more.
