Basically everyone has scars *shrugs* I swear I'm creative...

KAI P. O. V

"Hey I know, let's talk about depressing stories about ourselves!" My sister said suddenly.

"Uh why?" I asked with a laugh.

"Well, why not? It would be a good bonding moment." Nya responded.  "We can talk about something we don't usually discuss with others, for example, I have a story about-" 

" Oh oh! Let me go first! " Jay cried. Then his face turned down as we all went silent as we waited for him to elaborate.

"Actually, I don't have anything to talk about- " he began quickly.

Nya groaned.
"Did you really interrupt for nothing!? Surely you can think of something? "

Jay's hands began twitching, and I noticed he dug his hands into the blankets to steady them.

 "Well." he began. "There is something that's been on my mind. I have only told Cole about it though."

Everyone had their attention focused on Jay now. It was rare he ever talked about something without making a joke out of it, and it seemed whatever he was going to say really had been bothering him. 

" I, it sounds really bad, but, I think I may be adopted." he let out his typical nervous laugh which we were all used too.

"What!" Nya exclaimed. "But we met your parents! They-" 

"I know, but there's just some things that don't add up, for example, I don't have a birth certificate for me, they said they lost it, but they haven't been able to apply for a new one due to lack of details. I was also home schooled, as my parents said they didn't have the money to send me away and pay for school things. But they seemed to buy a lot for me. I had a pretty good life, but I rarely saw anyone else. And you know where I lived, it's in the middle of nowhere!"

" What does being homeschooled have to do with anything? " Nya asked. 

"Because, they would need evidence of my identity to send me to school. But they had nothing. " Jay responded.

"Well, if you were adopted, surely they would have had adoption papers or something? " I said. "I don't know how it works, but I'd think either way they would have identification for you."

"I know! I'm just saying, it's weird!" Jay said defensively. "Also my parents were travelling in their caravan around Ninjago when they had me. They said they lost the birth certificate on their travels. They have pictures of when I was a baby and I visited all the popular places. I don't remember most of it, as I was too young, we settled down at the junkyard when I was about three years old. "

" Well, it's quite possible that your parents did just lose the birth certificate." I said, hoping to ease Jay's worry. 

Jay sighed. "I know, but there are other things..like they are always so hesitant to talk.. If I ask any specific questions, they blow them off. I don't even know what hospital I was born at! The biggest red flag I guess, was when I said I wanted us to all get a DNA test, you know, I'm a nerd. I thought it would be cool if we all got one. But when I brought it up, they were against it. They told me it didn't matter, as families don't need to be related by blood so getting a test is pointless. So that really got me thinking. Why would they say that? Unless they had something to hide, or were trying to tell me something? "

I saw Cole rub Jay's hand comfortingly as Jay continued. 

"I'm probably being dramatic over nothing, and it's not like I care all that much, they will always be my parents. But I'd still be interested in knowing what happened to my birth parents.... if I was adopted of course."
