Here It Goes

LLOYD  P. O. V

"That was awesome!" I said to Kai excitedly. The memories of the argument with my mother from earlier and my terrible night sleep were pushed to the back of my mind. We had just walked out of the theatre after seeing the Fritz Donnegan movie. It had been better than I had anticipated. Everyone else leaving the theatre were also chatting excitedly.

"It was!" Kai agreed, smiling broadly. We stopped when we got outside the theatre. My heart sang as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and ruffled my hair. "I had a great time, glad we could hang out."

"Yeah, me too! HEY don't mess up my hair!" I laughed. Kai stopped ruffling it and reached out and gently pushed a lock of my now messy hair out of my face.  "Your hair looks good even when it's a mess though." he smiled.

I felt my heart racing.

I love him so much.

" You uhh- yeah so does yours." I said with a blush. Quick that was embarrassing, say something to fix it! "Like uhh, when you let it down you know? When you don't have hair gel in it, like-" I felt myself getting more and more flustered.

Stop Lloyd, why do you do this to yourself? he doesn't even like you like that. You are hopeless.

Kai laughed and stood up taller.
"I know, I'm irresistible." He brushed a hand across his spiky hair. I couldn't help but look him over, his red jacket, ripped jeans, cute earrings.

He wasn't wrong.

He looks so good.

Snap out of it Lloyd. I told myself harshly.

" Stop being a flirt! " I laughed.

Oh God I just said that.

Kai chuckled. "Oh yeah? hey, we still have some time before your appointment right?" Kai pulled out his phone and turned the power on.  "When does it start? Was it 3.00pm?"

"Yeah." I replied, feeling a wave of anxiety remembering my appointment. I tried to stay calm, there was nothing to worry about. I always felt like this before I arrived, once I was there, I felt much better.

"Well." Kai said, checking his phone for the time. "We still got a while to go, how does an ice cream sound?"

"Um.. I think yes!" I exclaimed. "Why would I ever say no to an ice cream? "

"Good point." Kai grinned. "Let's go then! I have the best ideas. "

"Will we take the motorbike?" I asked. We had left it parked on the street nearby.

Kai thought for a moment. "Nah we will walk, it's not that far, I'll come back for the bike later."

We walked side by side to the little ice cream shop outside the city mall. There was a small line of people waiting to be served. We got in line behind them. Looking into the cabinet full of ice cream as we waited, I tried to decide what I wanted. There was so many flavors to choose from. I ran my eyes across the numerous options. I didn't know what I wanted. I wanted to try everything.

   Kai pulled his credit card out of his wallet.  "What have you decided? I'm going to get a double scoop with chocolate and caramel."

I had to make a decision fast. We were now next to be served. I looked over everything again quickly.

"I think I'll go with uhhh.. A chocolate mint and Caramel."

I reached into the pocket of my jeans and brought out my wallet to pay.
