Just wholesome friends this chapter, enjoy whilst it lasts. 🙂

I didn't know how much time passed. It felt like a while, and also like no time at all. Kai still had his head snuggled into my chest. I continued to hug him, until I heard a knock at the door. Startled, I pulled away from Kai and pushed my sleeve down over my bandaged arm quickly.

"Who's there?" I called out, making my voice as strong as possible. A cold determination set over me.

If it's my mother, I'll tell her off.

Kai glanced at me and wiped a tear from his eye before he looked towards the door questioningly, an angry look setting across his face.

I let out a breath of relief when I heard Cole's voice.
"Just me, everything okay?" he asked.

I exchanged a glance with Kai, who gave me a weak smile.

We're OK. 

"Yeah everything is fine." I called back.

For now. 

"Oh good." Cole said. "Just wanted to let you know, Misako and sensei just left, so uhhh, we have the place to ourselves for a while, if you want to come out..."

She left? Thank goodness. 

I never wanted to see my mother or Wu again.

She's a stupid horrible mother.

"When are they coming back? Kai asked, anger laced in his voice.

"Not for a few days I believe, they said they were staying in a hotel or something." Cole called through the door. "I say good riddance." 

"Oh hell yeah! " Kai said excitedly, jumping to his feet like he hadn't been crying a moment ago. His eyes met mine and he held out a hand to help me up. I felt myself blushing as I reached to take it, my heart was thundering as our hands touched and he pulled me to my feet. I wanted to keep holding his hand. It felt so nice, warm and comforting. I found myself holding onto it a second longer than necessary before letting go. 

Get a grip of yourself Lloyd. I told myself silently.

Cole called out again from behind the door. 
"Me and Jay are cooking, so come grab something to eat if you like."

"Okay." I said quietly, feeling a pang of hunger at the thought of food. I want to go eat, but can I face everyone after what happened?

I heard Cole's footsteps get fainter as he walked away. 

"Do you want to go get something to eat?" Kai asked, staring at me intently. I met his eyes and couldn't look away, I began to feel uncomfortable, unsure how to look at his face now I knew where the scars came from.
Now I'm staring rudely.

The scars across his eye did look cool.

I felt sick thinking that.

It must have hurt pretty bad.

It must be so hard for him knowing I'm hurting myself. He's been through the same thing. He clearly is worried about me.

I am a bad friend. 

 Kai suddenly lightly punched my shoulder and then gave me a quick squeeze of a hug, jolting me out of my thoughts.

"You are amazing, don't forget that." He whispered, before quickly turning away and going to pack up his first aid kit hurriedly.
