After a trip to the library we had a large haul and a lot of reading to do. Now we were heading back to pick up Misako from Stiix. I was now laying on my bed, going over a pile of books.
"There are too many!" Kai muttered, walking into my room and tossing another pile of books onto my bed beside me.
"I've found nothing useful." I sighed, closing the book I'd just been reading. "It was just another recipe book of a Jinns favourite dishes. "
"What are they?"
"Strangely, a lot of Juniper Berries."
Kai picked up the book and turned to the first page, reading it out loud.
"Juniper Berry potato bake with a side of Gin and tonic." Kai flipped to the next page.
"Juniper Berry stew with a side of Gin and tonic.... Okay I see what you mean.." he muttered, closing the book.
"Do you know if the others have found anything?" I asked?
Kai shook his head. "Not as far as I know."
"Great. " I muttered, sorting through the books Kai had piled on my bed. Nothing looked useful. But that made sense, considering Sensei Wu had been the one to pick out the books.
No surprise there.
Kai leaned over and picked back up the books from my bed, placed them on the floor and kicked the pile under the bed and grinned. I stared at him in puzzlement.
"I've had enough of this, give me a second, I'll be back." Kai said, before leaving the room.
I sat on the edge of my bed and stared underneath at the books now piled on the floor. The title of the nearest one caught my attention.
Beginner's guide to rare magical rocks and crystals.
Zane was saying something about a cave that holds crystals with elemental powers. Maybe this book will explain something about that?
I picked it up and opened the first page. On it was a picture of a goofy cartoon ghost with a speech bubble above its head.
"Welcome to the world of magic! I'm your special guide, Whispy, and today I'll teach you all about magic! Say it with me! Magic is good, magic is fun, magic, magic for everyone!!"
I closed the book quickly.
Nope, I was wrong.
Then Kai appeared in the doorway, holding a bundle of fairy lights in his hands.
"It's about time we set these up," Kai grinned. My heart fluttered in excitement.
"Aw heck yes!" I jumped up off the bed and helped Kai place the messy pile of lights down on the floor.
"They look a little tangled." I laughed
"Yeah, where do you want to hang them?" Kai asked, his soft smile lighting up his eyes like stars.
He's so adorable.
"Let's start by illuminating My Fritz Donagan poster." I dropped to the floor, sitting cross legged and picked up a strand of the lights and tried to pull them apart absent mindedly.
Fuck fuck fuck I just wanna hold onto him forever why am I so fucking anxious all the time?
"Sorry I kind of dumped them out of the box and made a mess of them." Kai said as he tried to detangle the lights.
"I'm sure we'll figure it out." I tugged gently on one end of the lights that looked like it was a little less tangled than the rest.
Kai laughed softly, staring down at me with a dreamy look in his eyes.
