Dr. G. M. Daniels

There's no way Gabriel is Malcolm, right? Like, am I reaching? Am I so desperate to make sure that he pays for his sins that I'm making an unfathomable connection?

James sighs softly next to me, and I unconsciously run my fingers through his slightly damp curls as I attempt to make sense of my brainwave.

Iris/Sophia... Malcolm... Maya... Gabriel... ex-girlfriend/love of his life Sophie...

Is it too much of a wild coincidence? I mean did Iris even study the same year as Gabriel?

Fuck, my head hurts.

But, I have an idea.

No, it's crazy.

Absolutely. Absurd.

Don't do it, Ava!

But true to form I do it anyway, and close my eyes, kissing Jamie's unconscious head softly as I click send:
I know who you are.

Gabriel: And I knew you'd message me. How are you baby?

A:Whatever. Just tell me the truth.

G: What are you on about?

A: Are you Malcolm?

There's a long, dramatic pause before he responds:
Took you long enough.

A: Where's Maya?

G: She's safe. As long as you don't call the police, or tell anyone, nothing will happen to her.

A: So what do you want?

G: Isn't it obvious?
You. I want you. Say you're mine. Forget about James Ellis and we can pick up where we left off before your little fiasco in Nice this weekend.

A: It can't be that simple.

G: Of course not, baby. You still have to earn my forgiveness.

I bite my tongue as I'm clearly about to sell my soul to the devil. The words I want to spit at him... Evil. Vile. Narcissist. Instead I send my reply:

Fine, what do I have to do?

G: Meet me in an hour. We'll do an exchange. You for Maya. No police. No Jamie dearest. Just you, my Ava.

He sends a location and when I search it, I realize it's the location of his grandfather's old gentleman's club, now abandoned. He must have inherited it.
