"I have fucking had it with the two of you!" Gianna shrieks and starts swearing in Italian.

"Hi Gianna, please, have a seat, make yourself at home," I snide sarcastically as I lay down on my couch.

"Don't be cute with me. I'm so mad at you. And Jamie." She huffs and pushes my legs aside to make more space for herself. "I shouldn't be so stressed out, but nooo you guys just had to fuck on my birthday and ruin my near perfect blood pressure!"

"What are you on about?" My eyes are closed and I cross my feet onto her lap, biding some time ahead of the scolding I'm about to receive. "James and I are always fighting. Why's it so different this time?"

"Have you not seen the papers? He's a fucking mess, Ava." My heart sinks when I hear this. "He got pissed at some pub, Ant and I had to get him but the media swarmed the place already. And his season starts next week. I haven't seen him on a binge like that in ages; not since the out of control crazy Madison days."

Fuck. He told me that he was in such a good space and I had to go ruin that!

"Maybe he just needed to get it out of his system before the season starts," I argue hopelessly, and receive a stinging swat on my thigh. "Ouch. Ok. Sorry. That was wrong. But he was a dick to me too."

"What happened? He told me it's got to do with Gabriel." She's still shouting. "You aren't fucking the both of them are you?"

"No, James and I haven't been together since the beginning of Feb. And he's yo-yo dating his exes."

"No, he's not." Gianna snaps, and I believe her. "So is Gabriel cheating?"

"What? No. Well, I mean not technically?" So I tell her everything. Everything leading up to Friday night, Molly, the backhand, the makeup sex, everything that happened on Monday night, the fight with Jamie on Tuesday morning.

Exhausting. AF.

I ignore her gasps and the subtle repetition of "figlio di puttana" in reference to Gabriel.

"Ok, I get why James reacted in that way." She scoffs. "But seriously, why didn't you come to me in the first place?"

"I panicked and went to Iris, you know what she went through?" Gianna nods regretfully.

"I meant before that. Like it sounds like you were struggling with the whole dom-sub dynamic from the beginning."

"Yeah I was—" and I remember something. "Jamie did say you'd have some insight? What was that about?"
