Otto watched from his desk as Owen and Olive chatted with each other over by the security desks. He wasn't exactly sure what they were talking about, but by the smiling looks on their faces, he couldn't help but assume. And his suspicions were apparently confirmed when suddenly their conversation grew clearer and he could make out the stinging words that came out of Owen's mouth.

"Will you go out with me?"

Otto closed his eyes for a moment as his stomach began to twist in knots when he heard Olive's kind reply.

"Sure, Owen."

Dang it.

At that point, Otto turned his line of sight away from them to the paperwork on his desk as he subconsciously tuned out the rest of their dialogue.

The truth was, Otto had been crushing on Olive since the day he met her. But as they got closer and their friendship grew, he realized that it was way too risky to admit his feelings, not wanting to ruin their already beautiful bond. But now, here Owen was just swooping in and taking Olive for himself. He knew he sort of had no right to be upset about it.... but he was. Not to mention he had been kinda down all day since he was doubting if he was a good enough partner for Olive. She was so focused and much more experienced at her job, whereas he was a lot more carefree and made tons of mistakes. The Owen and Olive thing just added on to his lousy day.

He pretended to be 'busy with his paperwork' when he heard Olive walking back over to him.

"Sorry, I took so long over there, partner. But I'm back now, so we can go to the break room and get lunch." Olive said to him.

"Ok." Otto plainly replied, Olive instantly noticing how off he was acting.

"What's wrong?" she asked, concerned.

Otto turned to look at her. "Nothing's wrong." he faked a smile since he couldn't bring himself to be bitter at her, but that didn't stop him from being sad about it though.

Olive saw right through his lie like always. "Otto," she crossed her arms and gave him a look. "You know I can tell when you're lying. What's going on?" she pried.

Otto let out a quiet sigh. "Ok, fine. I've just.... been having a bad day." he vaguely replied. It wasn't a total lie.

Olive nodded. She knew there was something else Otto wasn't telling her, but she decided not to force it. That didn't mean she wasn't going to try and cheer him up though.

"Well, I'm sorry you're having a bad day, Otto. But I think I can make it better." she said, suddenly getting an idea.

"I don't know...." Otto trailed off.

"Come on. I know a more fun place we can go for lunch, follow me." Olive told him, not waiting for a reply as she took his hand in hers, unknowingly causing butterflies to erupt in his stomach, and pulled him off to who-knows-where.

Before Otto knew it, he and Olive were emerging from a tube entrance, arriving in the park.

"What are we doing here?" Otto inquired curiously.

Olive just gave him a smile as she proudly pointed to a nearby hot dog cart, watching as Otto lit up like a Christmas tree.

"Hotdogs? Sweet!" he exclaimed, temporarily forgetting what he was upset about.

"Let's go." Olive said with a smirk before they were both darting over there.

Once they each got their hotdogs, they ate them in comfortable silence while sitting on the low cut, green grass, Otto finishing his before Olive despite the fact that he had three hotdogs and she only had one. After that, they laid on the grass and began talking about randomness for a while as they cloud watched.
