Endlessly (Oscar x Oona)

A/n: I obviously don't own the song lol. Hope you like this!!

Oscar stood in the lab, working on countless gadgets as Oona did the same a couple feet away from him. It had been a long gadget repair day so far, and both the scientists were still knee deep in work.

However, as Oscar worked, his mind was elsewhere as he gazed over at Oona. He had developed a secret crush on the female scientist the day he hired her, but of course, he tried to dismiss his feelings since he was convinced that she'd never feel that way about him. He always made sure that Oona never suspected his special feelings for her, but soon, Oscar found himself completely in love with her while Oona was totally oblivious to it. And now, the way he felt about her was becoming harder to keep a secret. He wasn't sure if he could keep it a secret anymore. And besides, she deserved to know how he felt right? So he planned to tell her soon, he just had to figure out how he would tell her....

He was pulled out of his train of thought when Oona looked over at him with a questioning look.

"You ok, boss?" Oona asked him.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" he reacted.

"You've been kinda staring over here for a while now." Oona shamelessly pointed out, Oscar's cheeks instantly heating up in embarrassment as he quickly pulled his line of sight away from her.

Had he really been staring for that long?

He hadn't even realized.

"Um, oh sorry, I just uh-  I was lost in thought." he awkwardly stammered out.

Oona nodded, giving him an understanding smile. "I get it. I get lost in thought all the time too. Sometimes I have conversations with myself in my head, but then I realize that I was talking to myself out loud the whole time! It's kind of a problem...." she animatedly explained.

Oscar smiled at her quirkiness, finding it extremely cute. Oona casually went back to focusing on her task, while Oscar was mesmerized by the way she pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, looking deep in concentration. 'So beautiful' he thought to himself. And that's when he suddenly got a brilliant idea.

He could buy Oona a ring from the jewelry store and give that to her when he confessed his feelings to her! It was a foolproof plan and Oscar was sure that she'd appreciate it greatly. So that night, when everyone else was headed home, Oscar headed to the jewelry store.

It was only when he got to said store that he realized he didn't have nearly enough money to afford anything there, which he hated since he really wanted to do this for Oona. She deserved the world and he couldn't even give her a ring.

He wasn't going to give up that easily though....

The next day, he got up early. He had heard about a little shop down the street where plastic rings were sold for only a quarter. It wasn't as fancy as the expensive ones, but he knew Oona would appreciate it just the same. And he sure hoped she'd also appreciate him admitting his love for her.

When Oscar finally arrived at work, he was greeted with Oona's smiling face as he entered the lab. He noticed that the workspace looked extra clean today, almost as if someone had slaved away all night cleaning it until it was spotless and organized.

"Wow, the lab looks great!" Oscar commented, gazing around the place.

Oona smiled brightly. "Thanks, boss. I got here early and made sure it was all clean from the day before. Just wanted to make your job a little easier." she explained.

Oscar's heart melted at her generous deed. "Thanks, Oona. I'm glad I hired you." he said with a warm smile. He had told her that before, but it seemed to have a different meaning this time.

Oona blushed deeply, noticing the adoration in his voice. "Just doing my job." she reacted, hoping desperately that Oscar wasn't seeing the pink tint that appeared on her cheeks.

Little did she know, his nervousness was currently through the roof also as he thought, and over thought about what he was going to say next.

Oona was about to turn around and start on repairing gadgets, but she stopped her actions when she felt Oscar's hand gently grasping her wrist.

"Oona?" Oscar said, hating how hesitant it sounded.

Oona instantly turned to look up at him.

"Yeah?"

Oscar took a deep breath as his heart rate sped up. Was he seriously doing this?

"Oona, I- I have something to tell you.... I like you. Like a lot." he managed to say, Oona already blushing like crazy as he continued speaking. "I've liked you ever since I hired you, and I didn't say anything since I figured you didn't feel the same way. But, obviously I couldn't stand not telling you. I totally get it if you don't feel the same way, but I hope you do." he then awkwardly got down on one knee, pulling out the ring from his pocket and holding it up to her as she gasped in surprise.

"Oscar-"

"Oh, um don't worry, I'm not proposing hehe. I just got you this ring cuz I really like you." Oscar quickly clarified with a nervous laugh as Oona gazed down at the plastic jewelry. "I know it's kinda cheap and everything, and not fancy like gold or anything, but I hope that you'll still wear it." he added, now silently awaiting her reply.

Happy tears filled Oona's eyes. "Oh my gosh, Oscar, I- I don't know what to say! I love it! Of course, I'll wear it. A-and I like you too. I have ever since you hired me." she admitted, Oscar breathing a sigh of relief before sliding the ring onto her finger and standing up to hug her.

"I love you, Oscar." Oona blurted out.

Oscar smiled. "I love you too, Oona. I was just scared to say that since I didn't wanna scare you off or anything." he chuckled. "I know I'm not perfect, and I don't know everything, but one thing I do know, is that I'll love you endlessly, Oona." he boldly added, to which she replied, "Same here."
