Butterflies (Orchid x Ohlm)

Odd Squad had quite a few crazy holidays, but Cake Day was by far the most fun in Orchid's opinion. It was the day where there was basically a cake party at work, and the cafeteria served all kinds of cakes to suit everyone's preferences.

This particular Cake Day though, Orchid had gotten a little carried away, eating way too much at a time. She grumbled to herself the whole tube ride home, her stomach aching like crazy from gobbling down the dessert all day.

She was now currently in her house on the couch, holding her stomach in pain and squirming around uncomfortably.

Yeah, eight pieces of cake was probably overboard.

Ding dong!

Orchid groaned at the sound of her annoying doorbell as she reluctantly pulled herself off of the couch, trudging over to the door.

She was all prepared to yell at whoever this was and tell them to go away, but when she opened the door, she was met with a familiar face.

"Ohlm?" she questioned, annoyance dripping from her voice.

Ohlm just smiled though as he waved at her and replied, "Hi, Orchid." He was holding a festively decorated, paper gift bag in his hand.

"What are you even doing here, Sherman?" she rudely asked, crossing her arms.

"Oh, well I had some leftover cake from earlier today and I was too full to eat it all. So I put it in this cool bag to give to you, I thought you might want it." Ohlm explained, holding the bag out to her, but she quickly backed away a few steps with a look of disgust on her face.

"Ugh, I don't even wanna hear that word ever again!" she reacted.

Ohlm tilted his head to the side in confusion. "What word? Cake?"

Orchid clutched her stomach as even the thought of the sweet treat made her tummy ache hurt more.

Ohlm looked concerned as he seemed to piece together what was going on. "You have a tummy ache?" he questioned as he just casually walked inside of her house.

Orchid rolled her eyes in annoyance. "What gave it away, Sherman?" she sarcastically said as she walked over to her couch and plopped down on it, though not before shutting the door behind Ohlm, since he had unsurprisingly forgotten to.

"What are you still doing here?" Orchid asked the boy, who had sat down beside her on the couch with a smile still on his face.

"If your stomach is hurting, then I'm gonna stay here and help you." he generously replied, having no intentions of leaving anytime soon. Orchid sighed before just deciding to let him stay since secretly she didn't exactly mind his company.

Ohlm soon was rummaging through her refrigerator, searching for random things that he assumed would settle her stomach. He had read somewhere online that soda was supposed to help with that too, which is why he made sure to also take a bottle of Sprite from the fridge. He made his way back over to her, carrying green apples, bananas, cherries and the soda in his arms, which he ungracefully set down onto the coffee table, ignoring how most of the fruit rolled onto the floor in the process.

Orchid eyed the food items skeptically from her spot on the couch.

"This stuff is going to make your stomach feel better." Ohlm confidently announced, until his confidence slowly dissolved into uncertainty as he added, "I mean, it's supposed to help. I didn't exactly research all this stuff. Just the soda...."

"You're ridiculous, Sherman." Orchid commented, holding back a smile. His cluelessness was sometimes so cute, but she would never admit that to him though.

She reached forward to grab the soda, but Ohlm swiftly stopped her, volunteering to open it for her, which quickly resulted in soda exploding from the bottle and all over everything due to Ohlm shaking it up beforehand.

"Ohlm!" Orchid shrieked at him.

"Whoops. Sorry, Orchid." Ohlm apologized before getting to work on cleaning up the mess, which took admittedly long since he refused to let her do any work to help him.

Orchid had to admit, drinking the soda did help her stomach feel a little better, but still though, Ohlm wasn't through doting on her just yet.

"Open up." he said with a grin, holding one of the cherries up near her mouth.

"I don't need you to feed me, you know." she sassed.

"But I'm taking care of you. Now, open up." Ohlm replied, Orchid rolling her eyes but not protesting any further as she let him feed her a cherry. She chose to ignore the blush that rose to her cheeks as he did so.

"I don't think I like those...." she trailed off, realizing that she wasn't fond of the taste.

"But do you feel better?"

"I guess...." she reluctantly admitted.

"Good. Now get comfortable, we're gonna watch a movie." Ohlm told her, only, he didn't seem to know how the remote worked so it took a good fifteen minutes to even get the movie going. Halfway into the movie, Orchid yawned as she became sleepy, absentmindedly leaning her head on Ohlm's shoulder, which he didn't mind at all.

"Thanks for doing all this for me, Ohlm." Orchid nearly whispered to him, surprisingly using his actual name this time. She thought it was sweet how he made an effort to help her, despite how rude she'd been.

"No problem, I like spending time with you." he genuinely replied. He had secretly had a crush on her for a long time now, and he loved spending the day with her. He decided to make a bold move by wrapping his arm around her, slightly surprised when she didn't pull away.

He looked down at her and noticed a smile on her face. She felt bold all of a sudden and decided to admit something that she'd been hiding.

"I really like you, Sherman." Orchid said with a smile, taking Ohlm completely by surprise when she quickly kissed him on the cheek before placing her head back on his shoulder as she cuddled up next to him.

Ohlm's cheeks were probably beet red at this point. "I like you too, Orchid." he managed to reply.

"Is your stomach ache gone?" he whispered his question since they were both clearly almost half asleep.

Orchid intertwined her fingers with his as she reacted with a genuine smile, "Yeah, it sure is."

They then dosed off with goofy smiles on their faces, both ecstatic that their feelings were reciprocated. Orchid's tummy ache had now been replaced with the pleasant feeling of butterflies, all thanks to Ohlm.
