It was a slow day at Odd Squad, and Otis had been sitting at his desk for hours now, doing paperwork as per usual. However, he was also getting distracted as per usual. Distracted by the chipper, adorable redhead sitting next to him at her own desk.
Otis had a huge crush on her, and she was completely oblivious to it because he was too nervous to actually admit it to her.
"So, are you excited, partner?" she asked him, pulling him from his thoughts.
"Huh?" Otis clueless reacted. He hadn't really been paying attention to what Olympia was saying, since he was so focused on admiring her beauty and her adorable voice.
"About the odd squad valentines day party this week," Olympia clarified. "Ms O said that Olive and Otto are coming to the party as special guests!" she continued to excitedly ramble about the upcoming party.
"Oh, right..." Otis trailed off, mentally debating a crazy idea that he just had. Since Valentines day was coming up, that would be the perfect opportunity for him to finally admit his feelings to her in a big, romantic and meaningful way. He wasn't sure if that plan was really good or incredibly stupid... but he had to figure it out soon.
Later that week, Otis and Olympia were helping out with the Valentine's day party setup since the celebration was now only a day away. Olive and Otto had also shown up a day early to help with the decorations as well, much to Olympia's delight.
Olympia and Olive were currently working together to untangle some string lights, which left Otis alone with his thoughts while he worked on the opposite side of the room with some other decorations.
He was still undecided about admitting his feelings to Olympia. He had already gotten a gift for her and everything, but he wasn't even sure if she'd like it. And he couldn't stop thinking about how if she rejected him it could ruin everything between them.
He was pulled from his train of thought when Otto walked up to him.
"Hey, Otis. You need some help with those decorations?" Otto checked. But he didn't give Otis a chance to reply before he started helping anyway. "Of course you do," he answered his own question as Otis just raised an eyebrow at him in confusion. "So, I um, I kinda need your help," Otto quietly said, briefly glancing around to make sure no one else was listening to their conversation. "I told Olive that the reason we're here early is to help with the party setup, but the truth is that I just wanted to get here early because I need your advice on something super important," Otto explained.
"Okay, what is it? Is there an odd problem you and Olive need help figuring out?" Otis guessed, but Otto shook his head.
"No, it's even more important than that," he said. "The thing is... I- I have a huge crush on Olive. I've liked her for so long, but I've been too scared to tell her," he admitted before looking at Otis with a very serious expression. "You can't tell Olive about this, okay? If she finds out that I like her, I'm toast! And not the tasty kind."
"Okay, but what do you need my help with?" Otis asked. He wasn't sure how he could help Otto with advice about crushes or romance, especially considering that he was clueless about how to handle his own crush on Olympia. He was in the same boat as Otto at this point.
"I want to give Olive something for valentines day and finally admit my feelings to her. But... that may or may not be a stupid idea, and I also don't know if the gift I got for her is good enough or not. So, since you and Olympia are dating, I figured I'd ask you what you think. I mean, you must know what a girl likes. How'd you get Olympia to fall in love with you?" Otto said, causing Otis' eyes to widen in surprise as his cheeks turned red.
