Mini golf (Otis x Olympia)

Otis sat nervously in his desk chair as he waited for his partner, Olympia to come back from the break room with the snacks that she was grabbing for the two of them. As he stared at the desk in front of him, Otis was busy trying to convince himself to finally ask Olympia out on a date. That's right. He was crushing on his best friend and had been for a while now, but actually getting up the courage to ask her out was the difficult part. He'd attempted to ask her a couple times before, but always ended up chickening out, just deciding that it would be too awkward.

Today would be different though, or at least he hoped it would.

Just as he was being engulfed in his thoughts, Otis heard Olympia's cheerful voice greeting him as she bounded over to him, toting the snacks with her.

"I'm back, Otis! And I got some orange slices and plain bread for you, just like you like it." she announced as she sat the food down on Otis' desk.

"Thanks, partner." he reacted gratefully, Olympia smiling in response before sitting down at her own desk. Otis watched as she started to eat the strawberry yogurt that she had brought for herself, looking happy as ever.

Should he ask her now?

He figured he might as well, since he probably wouldn't have the guts to do it later. So he silently took a deep breath before speaking.

"Hey, Olympia?" he managed to say.

"Yeah?"

"Um, will you go out with-"

Before he could even get the words out, he was swiftly interrupted by Ms O's shouting voice calling both of them into her office. "Seriously?" Otis mumbled to himself in frustration.

"Looks like Ms O's calling us. What were you gonna ask me?" Olympia said, standing up.

"Um, it can wait. Come on, we should go see what she wants." Otis quickly replied, standing and following Olympia up the stairs.

Soon, Olympia and Otis were zooming through the tube system on their way to the new miniature golf course that had just opened recently. Ms O had instructed them to go there to fix an odd problem.

"Whoa! This place looks so cool." Olympia commented once she and Otis had arrived at the outdoor mini golf course. "Oh, what were you gonna ask me earlier, Otis?" she wondered, looking over at her partner in curiosity, causing his cheeks to instantly turn red.

His line of sight drifted down to the bright green grass as he mentally debated whether he should ask her now or not. Deciding that he should, he turned to look at her, which took almost all of the confidence he had left. "Well, I was actually gonna ask you if-"

"Odd Squad! Over here!" someone was heard calling in the distance, interrupting Otis' question yet again.

Olympia looked to see who was calling to them, realizing it was a lady who worked at the golf course.

Otis trailed behind Olympia as she walked over to where the employee was.

"Hi. What seems to be the problem, ma'am?" Olympia asked with her signature smile.

"Odd Squad, thank goodness you're here. It's the weirdest thing, I was just cleaning off some of the golf balls and all of sudden they started singing!" The lady explained, running her hands through her hair as she talked about the strange predicament.

She then showed Olympia and Otis the pile of singing golf balls, which were becoming quite annoying by now. It turned out that the reason behind the problem was that the golf balls had mistakenly been cleaned with 'singing spray' instead of cleaning solution. Luckily, Otis and Olympia were able to fix it easily with the un-sing-inator gadget. After being thanked by the employee, they were on their way.

As the two of them walked back to the tube entrance, Otis remembered that he still hadn't gotten the chance to ask Olympia to go out with him. He began to think that maybe he kept getting interrupted today for a reason. Maybe it was for the best that he didn't ask her out, and he should just forget the whole thing. After all, she was his best friend and even though he liked her so much that it hurt, this could make everything awkward and complicated.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Olympia asked him, pausing their walking for a moment as he snapped out of his thoughts.

"Oh, nothing." he lied, avoiding her line of sight.

Yup. There was no way he was asking her now. Not with his nerves all over the place, and his face a blushing mess. Maybe she didn't even remember about his unasked question anyway.

"What were you going to ask me earlier?"

Ok, so maybe she did remember....

Otis looked up at his partner, managing to look directly into her gorgeous brown eyes. "Will you go out with me?" he finally asked before he could lose his confidence, which he barely had any of.

Olympia's eyes widened before her face lit up with a beautiful smile, a blush coating her cheeks. "Really?" she couldn't help but question in disbelief.

"Yeah. I really like you a lot, Olympia. And I have for a while now. I was just too nervous to ask you out before." Otis explained. "I-it's ok if you don't feel the same way, I just-" he nervously added.

"Yes, Otis. I'd love to go out with you." Olympia cut in, giggling. "And I really like you too. I just can't believe you actually like me back." she stated, trying and failing to contain her excitement.

Otis quietly chuckled as relief flooded him. He couldn't believe that his best friend/crush felt the same way this whole time!

"So, where should we go on our date?" Olympia asked him.

"How bout mini golf? I know this really awesome place that just opened." he smirked since he was referring to the golf course that they were currently at.

"Sounds perfect." Olympia grinned.

The rest of the day was filled with golf, flirting, laughter, and a whole lot of blushing.

Little did they know, Ms O was watching them from afar in the ice cream surveillance truck. "Mission accomplished." she said, smirking. She had purposely assigned the mini golf mission to them since she knew about Otis' crush on Olympia and thought this would be a cute date idea. They would have to thank her later.
