Together (Otis x Olympia)

Olympia and Otis had just arrived at work together like usual. Usual except, Otis was nervous. He was nervous because Olympia had told him that she 'needed to talk to him about something'.  The uneasy expression on her face when she said that, made him panic inside.

He felt like she was about to break up with him or something, even though that made no sense because they weren't a couple or anything (although Otis may or may not have wished they were, but this wasn't the time for that).

"What is it?" he cautiously asked her when they were in the break room at lunch time.

"Ok, I'm just going to say it. Don't be mad at me, ok? It's not my choice. I mean-" Olympia began to ramble before Otis cut in.

"Olympia. What's going on?" he asked again, more curious and nervous than ever.

Olympia took a deep breath before blurting out, "I'm transferring to a different Odd Squad." she squeezed her eyes shut, awaiting Otis' reply.

"What? What are you talking about?" Otis questioned in disbelief.

Olympia sighed. "My parents got some job offer in a couple towns over, and we're gonna have to move if they take the job. Which means I'm gonna have to transfer...." she disappointedly explained.

Otis was just quiet for a second, not even sure how to react to that. He could not believe what he was hearing. Was he hearing her right?

Olympia, noticing his silence, decided to keep talking. "I talked to Ms. O about it a couple days ago. I'm leaving for the other squad in two days. I'm sorry, Otis, it's not my decision." she was now avoiding his line of sight.

"In two days? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Otis asked her, his voice cracking a bit as he didn't know what to feel.

"I didn't know how to tell you." Olympia simply replied. When she looked up at him, he could tell that she was on the verge of tears and it broke his heart even further.

Otis shook his head as he stood up from his seat. "No. No way I'm letting this happen." he said, holding out his hand to her as she took it and stood up also.

"I'm sorry, Otis." Olympia said again, throwing her arms around him in a hug.

"Don't worry, Olympia. It's not your fault. We'll figure it out." Otis tried to comfort her as they just stood there hugging for a while.

Later that day he went to talk to Ms. O about the whole situation to see if he could be transferred with Olympia. But Ms. O explained that that wouldn't be a good idea since Otis didn't go to the academy or anything and the only reason he got into this precinct was because Ms. O personally let him in. It would be too hard to explain all that to another precinct without revealing Otis' secret past.

So Otis was back at square one at this point. He didn't know what he was going to do, he had grown so attached to Olympia that he couldn't imagine not seeing her everyday.

The next day, Olympia was off work since she had to spend the day packing and everything. Otis sat at his desk, staring at his computer with a blank expression. It was weird when Olympia wasn't sitting next to him, filling up the empty silence with her bubbly, chipper voice. There was absolutely no possible way that Otis could go everyday like this. He couldn't just let her leave.

Suddenly, Oona walked up next to him, pulling him out of his train of thought.

"Hey, Otis? Ms. O wanted me to tell you that she'll start looking for a new partner for you later today. But she said it might take a while to find anyone though." Oona told Otis, tugging on her lab coat as she cringed at her own words since even she couldn't imagine Otis being partners with anyone besides Olympia.
