"Star-gazing was a good idea, partner." Otis told Olympia as they laid on the grass, staring up at the starry night sky together.

"Thanks. I told you you'd end up liking it." Olympia replied. Otis could practically hear the smile in her voice as she spoke.

When Olympia had suggested they go star gazing, Otis was initially against the idea, since he didn't really see the point in just staring at a night sky for who knows how long. But when Olympia finally managed to get him to agree, he ended up finding it to be extremely relaxing and pleasant.

The quiet atmosphere, mixed in with Olympia's cheerful voice when she occasionally found random things to chat about was very comforting to Otis.

"The stars are so beautiful." Olympia softly commented, a wide smile still present on her face. Her gaze was still stuck on the twinkling sky, but Otis on the other hand, had subconsciously turned his head to face her, noticing how her eyes sparkled brighter than the stars.

"Yeah, they are...." he trailed off in sort of a daze. He wanted to tell her that she was more beautiful than the stars, but he figured that might come across a little weird to her since they were just best friends.

After a moment, Olympia sat up, Otis following suit.

"Otis?" she quietly asked.

"Yeah?" he replied just as quietly, the serene late-night vibe almost making them feel the need to whisper.

"We're best friends, right?"

Otis was surprised by her asking that. Of course they were best friends, what would make her ever have to question that?

"Of course we are, Olympia." he reacted, curious as to where she was going with this.

"Well, I feel like we should know more about each other then. I mean, what do I really know about you, Otis? I feel like I know you really well, but at the same time, there's so much I don't know." she explained, finally looking over at him.

The excited curiosity in her eyes almost scared him. He'd thought that he had pretty much told her everything about himself over the time they've been partners.... ok, well not everything, but everything worth mentioning at least. Ok, that was still a stretch, but who could blame him? he wasn't exactly what you'd call an extrovert. Still, as much as he hated to admit it, he knew she had a point.

Olympia noticed his lack of response, and spoke again. "Don't worry, I'm not asking you to tell me your life story, although I wouldn't mind that actually, but I just wanna know something new about you." she said casually.

Otis let out a chuckle as he visibly relaxed a bit. "I guess you're right." he shrugged.

"So, let's each tell each other a secret! Something that we've never told each other before." Olympia suggested excitedly, moving a bit closer to him, so close that their knees were almost touching.

"Ok." he agreed, trying to ignore the blush that clearly made an appearance on his cheeks at that moment.

"Great, I'll go first!" Olympia volunteered. "So, my secret is that when I first came to the squad, I was kinda nervous when they told me my partner was gonna be a boy...." she trailed off.

Otis titled his head to the side a little in confusion. "Why?" he inquired, genuinely curious. The slight pink tint that dusted her cheeks did not go unnoticed by him.

"Um, well, this is gonna sound weird, but I was nervous because I thought I would end up liking you and things would get weird because you wouldn't like me, and then we wouldn't be able to work good together." she let out a nervous laugh. "I was even more nervous when I saw you, because it turned out, you were really, really cute. Obviously I didn't tell you that then though, cuz I wanted to make sure we stayed focused on work and stuff." she was now looking down and blushing in embarrassment.

Otis was in complete shock. He had no idea that she thought he was cute. "Really?" he asked her almost in disbelief, his cheeks beet red also.

"Yeah.... " she trailed off shyly. Otis then placed his hand over hers, not even sure why he was suddenly bold enough to do so.

Olympia looked up at him with her signature beaming smile as her embarrassment seemed to quickly fade away, though her cheeks were still a light pink. "What's you're secret?" she questioned.

Otis took a deep breath before speaking. "Don't hate me, ok?"

"Otis, I could never hate you." Olympia swiftly replied.

Otis looked directly into her brown eyes as she smiled warmly at him.

"I think I love you." he nearly whispered.

Olympia's eyes widened slightly as she froze. Did she hear him right?

Otis anxiously waited for her reply as his heart rate sped up, and he was pretty certain that Olympia could probably hear it from how close she was sitting.

After what seemed like forever, Olympia finally spoke.

"I'm really glad you said that, because I think I love you too, Otis." she reacted.

Otis couldn't help but smile at her reply as he felt instant relief wash over him.

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, neither of them needing to say a word since they could basically read each other's minds. They had found themselves laying back down on the grass again as they gazed up at the star-filled expanse.

"Star-gazing really was a good idea, partner." Otis repeated his words from earlier as he still couldn't seem to wipe the light smile off of his face.

Olympia grinned. "Told ya."
