A month later
"All rise for Honorable Jensen Baker"
Judge Jensen Baker walked into the court room and took his place at the judge's stand.
"You all may be seated." He said
Everyone took their seats.
"Okay,so we have tried to come to an agreement but have failed immensely in mediation. So I'll ask you Mr Barnes. Is there a reason why you don't want to keep the current verbal agreement that you made with Ms Cooper a year ago?" Judge Baker said
"I don't feel like I can trust her judgement. She is basing her school and her life around her boyfriend. She chose to go to a school is attending to play baseball. She chose a trip with her boyfriend over a family vacation that we have taken every year with our families. It was the first year our son could actually enjoy and she bailed. She's been know to be suicidal as well." He said
Ellie sat there in shock as tears fell down her cheek.
"My client was suicidal when she was 15-16 years old. She's been going therapy and getting help. She was diagnosed with depression/anxiety PTSD as well as other things. She's been put on medication. As far as the trip she took over a beach trip her boyfriend bought her tickets to go see the NY Ballet Company perform." Ellie's lawyer Mia Grey said
"Your client didn't even tell my client till the last minute her college plans or Spring break plans. She doesn't talk to him about decisions that affect their son. She just does what she wants and he's just expected to go along with it." Omar Goodin said (Bucky's lawyer)
Ellie looked down.
"Your honor if he wants our son then let him have him. If he thinks I'm such a horrible mother then give him full custody. I'm not gonna sit here and allow him to pick me apart because I have mental health issues or God forbid move on with someone new. He can't accept that I've moved on and he thinks that by keeping our son from me is the answer then let him." She said
"Ellie.." Bucky said as she walked out.
Bucky followed her out he caught up to her. He grabbed her arm and made her turn around.
She smacked hard across the face. "Don't touch me!"
"Ellie I'm sorry.." he said
"Yeah you are always sorry aren't you? I'm done with your apologies! I've moved on James! And using our son as a ploy to keep me here in GA is all kinds of messed up! Why can't you just accept the fact that I've moved on! I just want to be happy with Colton..and you are making that very hard. You don't want to be with me..so just let me live my life the way I want." She said
"Elle I do want you and I." He said
"Goodbye James.." she said as Colton came up behind her.
"Elle.." he said
"Just stop. We are done here." She said as she walked away.
Bucky looked down.
Ryan was about to walk off. "Ryan?" Winnie said
"I have to go. Because if I don't I'll end up punching your son." Ryan said
"Ryan.." James said
"Don't he's gone to far now." Ryan said as he walked away.
Ellie stayed with Colton at his parents place. They had picked out a small two bedroom apartment close to Vanderbilt University for them to live in. Cam was going to have his own room at their place.
Two days later she found out from her dad that the Barnes had gone on a ten day Disney cruise. Winnie sent her pictures of Cam from the cruise but didn't reply. When they returned she and Colton had already left for TN.
Ellie checked the mail and had a letter from the Savannah County Court house. She opened it up and read the custody agreement. Bucky gave her weekends and every other holiday. She face timed her dad..they talked for two hours about everything.
Ryan relayed a message to her lawyer to add something. Ellie wanted absolutely no contact with Bucky. So on Friday afternoons Ellie would pick him up from Winnie and James' and he was to pick him up from there. Winnie and James agreed to meet her half way on Fridays and Sundays.
