(24) Serenade Me

Seven months later 

Colton packed his guitar into the car along with a picnic basket. It was a beautiful spring afternoon. Ellie didn't have Cam that weekend cause it was Winnie's birthday. So she allowed Bucky to keep him so he could go. 

Colton surprised her with a trip to Cumberland Park in Nashville. They walked around the park till they found a good spot for them to enjoy the day and lunch. What she didn't know was the other two couples were hiding with phones in hand ready for the perfect moment. 

They ate their sandwiches and enjoyed their sparkling white apple juice. Once they were done and put everything back into the picnic basket. He opened up his guitar case. He kissed her as he smiled. 

"I'm gonna play for you." He whispered 

"I love when you do." She whispered 

He began to play "Beautiful Crazy." by Luke Combs. Their friends were live streaming it so the others could see it including Ryan and Ophelia. 

When the song was over she clapped and smiled. "I'm not done yet I have one more planned out for you..but I need you to close your eyes." He said 

"Okay." She said as she closed her eyes. 

He opened up a tiny black box in between them. He began to play "Grow Old." by Florida Georgia Line. She smiled as she swayed and kept her eyes closed. When he finished the song he smiled at her. 

"Baby open your eyes and look down.." he said 

She opened her eyes and looked down to see the diamond ring. She gasped as she covered her mouth. 

"Marry me Elliot Katherine Cooper." He said 

"Yes..yes yes." She whispered as she shook her head yes. 

Back in Georgia, James watched his son drop his phone and collapse to the floor on the back porch. James walked outside "James Buchanan.." he said as he began to hyperventilate. 

He picked up his phone to see what had him in complete shock. Paisley had labeled the stream "She said Yes." 

"James breathe.." he said 

Bucky just kept getting worse and they rushed him to the hospital. They were able to give him some medicine to relax him and kept him over night cause his blood pressure was high for a 20 year old. 

The following Friday Winnie drove Cam up to the meeting place. 

"Elliot you know that I have always loved you like my own. But you need to tell your friends that if they are going  to be live steaming shit then they need to unfriend my son. Because he spent most of my birthday in the hospital." Winnie said 

"Winnie Im sorry I didn't even know they were doing it. It was all a surprise." She said 

"Just let them know." Winnie said as she got in the car and left.
