(43) Camping with You Again.

Three months later 

It was the one year mark of her cancer diagnosis. Ellie had just finished up with a patient when her receptionist said "Dr Cooper. You have some packages." 

"Oh.." she said 

Ellie brought all the pink stuff into her office. 

"Bucky what did you do?" She said to herself. 

Pink roses pink bear a box that said "pinkin of you" filled with all of her favorite candy. 

She opened up the envelope with her name on it. 

"Ellie bear,

I have loved you all my life. You are the only one in this world that makes me go crazy. So tonight dress warm because we are going back to where it all began for us. And no not the clubhouse because remember dad burned it. But I may have saved one piece." 

She sat down in her chair and shook her head. 

"God what are you doing James Buchanan." She whispered 

That afternoon when she got home he was loading up Syd and Cash. 

"They are going to stay with mom and dad." He said 

"Memaw Innie Pop Pop James." Cash said 

"Nene nene." Sydney said 

"I've already packed our bags." Bucky said 

"Um I only see two kids. We have three.." she said 

"Oh our teenager. He says he doesn't need a sitter that he is 16 and doesn't need one." Bucky said 

"Uh excuse me. If he's anything like you then he does." She said 

Bucky walked over to her and kissed her. "Baby I hate to break it to you. But our boy is no longer that sweet mama's boy. He's having sex and he's driving. He can be left alone for one night." He said as he held her face 

Tears welled in her eyes. "Baby don't cry." He whispered 

"He's having sex? Please tell me that you told him..oh my god oh my god.." she said 

"Ellie calm down. Baby he is fine and yes I ensured that he knew about condoms. Just like I knew about condoms. Geez what are you going to do about Cash when he grows up." He said 

"I don't have worry about that sweet boy. Colton didn't lose his v card till he was 17 with Daisy and he wasn't like you." She said as she went inside. 

"That's cold baby real cold." He said as he got in the Escalade. 

That night they drove out to the old campgrounds. 

"I'd like to say coming back to where we were conceived isn't the thought I had." She said as she sat on the picnic table while he put up a tent. 

"You weren't conceived here. Me and the others were but not you." He said 

"Wait what? How would you know?" She said 

"Because my dad told me about the pregnancy pact. And apparently dad dared your parents to have sex in the library the night of senior prom. Your dad started laughing and said we did it up against the English Lit section cause she said it was the boring section of all the sections." Bucky said as he started the fire.

"Well that explains a lot. I've always been the outsider even before I was in formed." She said 

He came over to her and pulled off the picnic table. "Dance With me" he said as he turned on some music.

"I Do.( Cherish You) began to fill the night air. They danced to a few more songs they made hot dogs and s'mores. He pulled out a piece of wood out of his bag.

She read "JB + EKC ❤️" 

"When did you do that?" She said 

"A few days after I kissed you." He said 

She smiled as she ran her finger tips over it. 

"Come here.." he said 

"Elliot Katherine Cooper, you make me crazy you are the love of my life and I can't lose you again. I've come so close to losing you so many times. I've known for a longtime now that you are the one." He said 

She wiped a tear. 

"This ring here. I bought a long time ago it was suppose to be your promise ring. But I messed up and couldn't give it to you. But I am now.." he said as he slid it on her finger.

He held up another ring. "Marry me Ellie bear?" He said 

She smiled as she wiped more tears. "Yes.." she said 

He slid the ring on her finger and kissed her. "I know it's fast but I can't wait any longer." He said as they laid in the tent after sex. 

"We don't need to." She whispered
