(38) The New Ex vs The Old Ex

A week later

Bucky was about to walk into Ellie's room when he seen Colton. He decided to wait in the hallway till he was done. 

"I'm glad you got your memory back." Colton said 

"Me too." She said 

It was quiet between them for a few minutes. 

"I miss you Colt. And I still love you." She said 

"I will always love you Elle. And I miss you too but we agreed that this was for the best." He said 

She looked down. 

"I'll stop back by in the morning before my flight." He said as he kissed her cheek. 

"You're leaving so soon?" She said 

"Ellie I've been in town for a week. I've to get back to LA I have promotional stuff I have to do that my manager put off so I could be here with you. But she could only push it back so far." He said 

Ellie looked down. 

"I'll be back in town for Christmas." He said 

"Are you seeing someone Colt?" She said 

"Elle..I. Um well..yeah. I've been seeing someone for the past five months." He said 

"Please leave.." Elle said 

"Elle don't do this. I know you are scared and I'm scared to. But please don't push me away. I will always love you. And you will always be special to me  cause of the babies. But Elle we can't be what you want." He said 

"Bucky I know you are in the hallway. Make him leave." She said 

Bucky pushed himself up off the wall and walked in. 

"Colton it's best you go. She doesn't need to be upset right now." Bucky said 

"Ellie.." Colton whispered 

She shook her head no. "You've hurt me for the last time." She said 

Colton left the hospital room leaving Ellie and Bucky alone. 

"Aww poor Ellie even your own ex husband doesn't want you." 

"Stop it..just stop it and shut up." Ellie whispered

Bucky came over to her and lifted her chin. "It's just the tumor talking darlin ignore her. She's a bitch." Bucky said as he took her hand. 

"Thank you for making him leave." She said 

"Anytime. Are you hungry? I can go get you something." He said 

"I am. I didn't like what the cafeteria gave me." She said 

"Okay..I haven't forgotten what you like and what you can't have. So I'll be back.." he said as he kissed her forehead.

As he looked back at her from the door. "Leave her alone Taylor she doesn't need your mouth." He said with a smile. 

She let out a laugh and sniffled. 

He came back thirty minutes later with food from the diner. He got her onion rings with a chicken sandwich and a water with lemon. He got him two burgers and a large fry. Lyla was looking for him to see if he needed a ride. When she saw them through the window laughing at some funny story about Camden and his girlfriend. 

Bucky's face was lit up like a Christmas tree with her. Lyla has noticed it every time they are together. She ended up leaving without him. 

The next morning Colton came in to find Bucky asleep on a cot. She was awake eating her oatmeal. He sat down beside her. 

"Ellie I didn't mean to hurt you last night. But what did you expect that I would be single forever." He said in a low tone. 

"Just forget it Colton. I forgot your MLB dream is the most important thing to you. Not me not your kids not anybody. I never thought I would get this from you. I expect it out of him but not you. It's like you two did a body swap. But you go and enjoy your dream Colt. Atleast he wants to be here for me unlike you." She said 

"Ellie that's not fair." He said 

"Choosing your career when I gave you a choice wasn't fair. Now please just go." She said 

Colton walked out shaking his head. 

"He's such a dick. That's what happens when someone gets lots of money." Bucky said as he sat up.

She smiled at him. 

An hour later Natasha took her down to the chemo room. She placed a puke bucket in her lap.

"You'll need that love. Chemo makes everyone sick. We have chemo pops if it's to much for you" Natasha said 

"Okay." She said 

Bucky held her hand as Nat started the medicine. Ellie sat back in the chair as she felt the medicine began to take effect. 

"What happened?" Bucky said 

"With what?" She said 

"Your marriage.." he said 

She looked down. "The story of my life. Something always is shinier and prettier. In this case it was his dream job. Which was fine when it was just me and him. But then we had Sydney and suddenly I was trying to finish my masters in Psychology raising a baby and where was my husband. In LA because he got traded." She said as nausea began to take over. 

"Breathe Elle. You are okay." He whispered as he caressed her cheek. 

"So after the first year of him being in LA. I realized this isn't what I wanted. And he couldn't give me what I wanted. I tried one last time I gave him an ultimatum when I found out I was pregnant with Cash. He refused to retire for me for the first time ever he chose himself over me." She said before puking into the bucket. 

He rubbed her back. "You are okay Ellie bear just breathe." He said as she puked again. 

A nurse came over to them and gave her new bucket. Eventually her appointment was done and she was able to go back upstairs to her room. Bucky laid with her in her hospital bed as she slept on his chest. 

Lyla seen them together as they were both asleep and walked off stewing.
