locker room
"just this once, right?"
"how many times do i have to tell you?"
mikasa's chuckle filtered through the thin curtain of the changing room. you could practically see her standing there, arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe with her trademark confidence.
"you're just a stand-in. nothing permanent."
a few days ago, mikasa had cornered you in the library, pleading for a favour—one that now had you tugging awkwardly at a too-tight cheerleading outfit. apparently, the trost football team's cheer squad couldn't afford to have a single gap in their formation during practices, so as a good friend, you decided to step in for a sick cheerleader, even if it meant potentially making yourself look foolish in front of levi and adding to his weird cosplay fantasies.
"good," you rasped, fixing your hair."because there's no way i'm getting used to this."
you took a deep breath, gritted your teeth and stepped out from behind the curtain.
the fluorescent lights overhead illuminated every inch of your misery. the outfit clung in all the wrong places, the skirt barely brushing your mid-thighs, and the cropped tank top left just enough skin exposed to feel the chill of the air.
mikasa glanced up from her phone. her eyes widened for half a second with an approving grin.
"damn. you look so good."
"let's ignore how slutty this feels," you replied, crossing your arms self-consciously."it's kind of cute. kind of."
"right? honestly, it looks like a cheer version of our volleyball uniform."
you laughed in agreement, the memory of your volleyball days, the days when your friendship with mikasa was freshly blossoming, resurfaced.
"yeah, except the volleyball uniform was a little more...functional. this feels like something designed for maximum embarrassment."
