"okay, last one. everyone just hold still. floch, if you touch your hair one more time, I swear—" frieda warned, her fingers gripping his shoulder lightly.
"i wasn't—" floch muttered, though his hand hovered suspiciously near his bangs.
with all the recent changes to the café, new hires, a fresh layout, and a revamped menu, frieda decided it was time for an updated staff photo. she even went as far as hiring a professional photographer.
finally, after a few failed attempts (thanks to carly's dramatic poses, lou, your new coworker's deer-in-the-headlights expression, and nifa barely holding in her laughter), you managed a usable shot.
the camera clicked, freezing the moment in time.
"perfect," the photographer announced, lowering his camera with a satisfied nod."that should do it."
a small chorus of "thank you" followed as your team broke formation, stretching and relaxing now that the ordeal was over. the photographer made his way to one of the café tables, setting up his laptop to begin uploading the photos.
"can i get you a coffee while you work?" nifa offered, already steering behind the counter.
"that'd be great, thanks," he said, offering her a polite smile before turning his focus back to his screen.
as nifa busied herself with the espresso machine, floch casually leaned against the counter beside her, flashing a charming grin."you know," he mused, watching as she expertly worked the steam wand."your coffee's probably the only reason half of us function in the morning. don't know how you do it."
nifa let out a soft laugh, shaking her head."it's called being a barista, floch."
floch was about to fire back with another quip, when a sudden weight dropped onto his shoulders.
"floch, my man," lou drawled, slinging an arm around him with an all-too-knowing smirk."you sure you should be wasting your energy on nifa when we all know who you really like?"
