disbelief washed over you, rendering you momentarily speechless.

"armin?!"

a familiar smile adorned his face, a flicker of amusement dancing in his blue eyes like he'd been waiting for this reaction.

"surprise!" your petite, red-head friend popped up from behind him, her hands latching his shoulders like she'd just fished out a rare gem. with a triumphant grin, she all but presented the blonde student to you and levi, her excitement bubbling over.

you couldn't help but gasp, emotions clashing. joy, disbelief, nostalgia. without thinking, you collided into armin, arms wrapping tight, the distance between you evaporating in an instant.

meanwhile, the president didn't bother to conceal his disapproval, his piercing stare narrowing at the unexpected turn of events.

"hey, (y/n)! it's good to see you again!"

"what are you doing here?" the words tumbled out, your heart racing to piece together how armin arlert of all people was standing in front of you right now.

he beamed."i told you, didn't i?" armin's hands rested on your arms, steady but full of delight."i was thinking about getting back into education."

flashback

"it's great that you're considering applying for schools again. do you know where you wanna finish your senior year?"

"i haven't decided yet. but i've got a few places in mind."

"yeah? like where?"

"it's a surprise."

end of flashback

the realisation had you reeling.

"you should've told me! i never would've expected to see you here." your pupils bounced to petra, as if she'd orchestrated this entire reunion."are you all settled in yet? do you need help with anything?"
