you hadn't intended to confess any of it.

yet it spilled regardless—unfiltered, ungracious, the whole ugly truth exposed before it could be clamped down. there was no careful curation, no narrative that sounded noble or intact. just facts, each one prying open scars sewn shut and declared healed by sheer force of will.

levi didn't interrupt.

that was the worst part.

he appeared deceptively at ease, the leaflets pinched as though they might disintegrate under excess pressure. his expression remained inscrutable, but his gaze was anything but passive.

anger, you could've handled. sarcasm, disappointment, even disgust—you'd have met those head-on, walls snapping up on instinct alone. but this calm? it stripped you down to the bone.

"...you're not gonna say anything?" you began eventually, irritation threading your voice."you're being weirdly calm about this."

"i'm listening."

"there's nothing else to say. it happened. it's done."

"is that so."

his neutrality grated more than judgment ever could.

"yes."

levi inclined his head a fraction."you don't owe me an explanation."

your shoulders squared automatically, spine straightening to barricade what your chest was doing. your attention dropped to the ground. knuckles blanching. nails biting into skin. your breath hitched once, and before you could stop yourself, you tucked forward.

a tear slipped free.

you wiped it away immediately, annoyed more than surprised.

another followed.
