and just like that, with no answers given, your father vanished again, slipping out of your life as easily as he had reappeared. whether it was shame or something else driving him away, you didn't know. and truthfully, you weren't sure you wanted to.

but levi was there.

he didn't prod for details or drown you in empty reassurances. he simply stayed, filling the spaces where grief and confusion threatened to creep in. and, little by little, the fringes of your thoughts dulled.

then, before you knew it, february 14th arrived.

you hadn't given much thought to valentine's day. between the weight of exams and the mess with your father, there hadn't been time to. besides, levi wasn't the type for elaborate schemes.

which was why you weren't prepared for what you saw when you stepped outside that morning.

he stood at the foot of your doorstep, hands buried deep in his coat pockets, looking effortlessly handsome as always. but today, there was something different about him—a subtle change, like he'd put in just a bit of extra effort, just enough to make sure you noticed.

and in his hand, clenched a little too tightly, was a bouquet of white tulips.

you stood short, startled."levi?"

he exhaled, as if already bracing himself for your reaction, and extended the bouquet with an almost defiant sincerity that was so undeniably him.

"it's for you." his gaze flitted away from you."since...it's valentines day."

a peal of breathy laughter slipped past your lips before you could stop it. not because it was funny, but because it was perfect. because levi, your levi, the man who never cared for romance or theatrics, had gone out of his way for this.

"you—" you clasped your hands together, eyes crinkling with a smileas you accepted the bouquet."you actually got me flowers?"

levi scoffed."don't...make it weird."
