eren's manor

the rooftop terrace stretched wide, offering a panoramic view of the jaeger estate wallowing in the sunset's hues. carla worked deftly, securing a freshly laundered pillowcase onto the line while eren stood by the wooden bucket with one of grisha's damp button-ups, fighting against the breeze to keep his tousled mane out of his face.

"and no throwing up in the house," carla warned, breaking the illusion of domestic bliss,"tell connie the garden is fine, but the pool and anywhere inside? strictly off-limits."

"that happened one time—"

"and there won't be a second," she cut in, leveling a clothespin like a loaded weapon."your father still grumbles about the catastrophe in his office."

"i told him, it wasn't my fault—"

"you let sasha drag him in there after he said he felt sick."

eren grimaced."okay, fine. that one's on me. what else?"

"no blasting music past midnight."

"mum, come on—"

"i mean it, eren. if your father or i hear one complaint from the neighbours—"

"yeah, yeah..."

"oh! and don't even think about using the roof as a diving board. i don't want to deal with broken bones in the morning."

eren's mouth quirked into a smirk."no promises."

carla snorted and whacked the dish towel against his arm.

he chuckled, rubbing the spot with mock injury.

a sudden gust swept across the terrace, sending the drying sheets billowing like sails. a lone sock shimmied loose, fluttered over the railing, and into the street before eren could grab it.

"well, that's gone good."

"your brother's going to think i'm getting rid of all his clothes on purpose."
