"attention, 104th seniors!"
the booming yell of the new head of p.e., keith shadis, ricocheted off the gym walls like a crack of thunder. his hawk-like stare swept over the assembled students, pinning each of you in place as if daring anyone to breathe out of turn.
scrambling into four stiff single-file lines, your class could practically feel the weight of his judgment settling on your shoulders.
"allow me to introduce myself! i'm keith shadis, and you will grow to hate me! as your teacher, i do not welcome you warmly! right now, you're nothing! less than nothing! as a matter of fact, what most of you are right now are failures! followed closely by worthless and pathetic!"
his words dripped with disdain, each one a lash across your already shrinking confidence.
"now stand up and salute, maggots!"
your group instantly snapped to attention, saluting in unison."yes, sir!"
"hurry up and get into groups of six! anyone that fails to follow these simple instructions by the time this clock hits 30 past will leave my class immediately!"
he paused for a few seconds.
"go!"

"anyone got dry shampoo? my hair looks like a wet mop from all that running," sasha groaned, tugging at her limp bangs with a pitiful frown.
you couldn't help but suppress a laugh, a flashback igniting to life in your mind.
sasha, during your p.e. session, had somehow produced a whole potato from her shorts, as casually as if she'd pull out a water bottle. shadis had been mid-rant, barking orders at connie about push-ups, when sasha took a bold bite. the room went dead silent, save for the crunch of her snack.
when shadis finally noticed, her face turned pale as a ghost. her excuse? "i thought it'd be wasteful not to eat it." that brilliant logic only fanned the flames of shadis's fury. she'd even tried offering him a bite, what was left of it, anyway. his punishment? thirteen laps around the school grounds.
