ANNA

"So....?" Rose gives me a questioning look as I walk over to her and Lisa.

"That was..." I sigh and take a seat at the bar beside Rose, "that was way more awkward than when I met Yoongi."

"Hongjoong said it was one of his uncles?" Lisa looks over at me with a questioning gaze. "Dare I ask which one?"

"It was the first time I had met him, but his name was Jackson?"

"You're shitting me," Rose gasps and covers her mouth with both hands. After a moment of overdramatized shock, she lowers his hands to reveal a gaping mouth. "You mean Sue's dad?!"

"I'm pretty sure." I shake my head in dismay at the reminder. "Sue and Mingi are siblings. Gross."

"You're telling me." As if on command, Sue plops herself down to the other side of me and groans into her hands. "It had to be Mingi of all fucking people."

"Where the—" I start, but then I remember that Sue is supposedly nice now. "—how are you holding up?"

"My dad resurfaced out of fucking nowhere to tell me that I'm related to an asshole," she grumbles before asking the bartender for a shot of tequila. "At least I now know that it's genetic."

"He seemed pretty nice," I say softly, but Sue doesn't seem to hear it as she downs the liquor.

"Oh yeah, he's a real charmer." She takes a deep breath and asks for another shot of Hennessy, this time for all four of us. "Rose, Lisa, surely you've got some daddy issues you'd like to air out?"

Rose and Lisa look at each other before shaking their heads. Lisa giggles softly and helps the bartender distribute the shots to everyone. "No, but I won't say no to a drink."

"My sister is an arse sometimes?" Rose chuckles before taking her shot. "But she's still my favorite person in the world, so I can't really relate."

"My whole family is dead," I blurt out, causing everyone else to fall silent. Unfortunately, the small bit of liquor in my system makes this reaction so funny that I can't stop myself from snorting.

"Jesus," Sue groans as the second shot goes down. "I guess you win then."

Lisa is quick to order another round of drinks for us after that, and this one goes down faster than the first.

"Hey," Seonghwa suddenly appears with Wooyoung and Yeosang at his side. His smile is more relaxed than normal and his eyes are bloodshot. "Looks like you girls are having fun."

"You smell funny," I blurt out upon getting a strong whiff of something earthy that I often smelled when I lived in California.

"I might have smoked a little before I got here," he explains. "I see your emergency got resolved pretty quick."

"Oh, yeah, I think everything is okay now." I turn to the bartender to get a beer or something to keep me from having to go into detail about how I spent my evening.

"Glad to hear it." Seonghwa's tone is clipped, but his expression remains relaxed. "Can I take you home?"

"I just got a drink," I argue. Seonghwa frowns at this, but elects to pull up a seat behind me instead. "Do you want something?"

"I shouldn't," he says with a shake of his head. "If I cross, I tend to get pretty out of it."

"Party at June and Sue's apartment." Wooyoung nudges Seonghwa to get his attention. "Let's head over there."

"Only if Anna wants to go." Seonghwa looks back at me, leaving me to decide on our fate of the evening. I had planned to check on Mingi, but he's been radio silent ever since he got back from meeting his father earlier.

"Excuse you, who invited you to my apartment?" Sue cuts in.

"Come on, noona~" Wooyoung adds an extra emphasis on the honorific. "Don't be like that! You throw such fun parties."

"You're lucky I'm already buzzed," she says with a huff before dropping a few bills on the bar top and sliding off of her stool. "Matthew, I'll be back in an hour when this party goes to shit."

The blonde behind the bar only chuckles. "Have fun and be safe. Give me a call if things get out of hand."

"Can I call you?" Rose asks with a tipsy giggle, only to be dragged away by me and Lisa. "Hey, why'd you take me away? He's hot."

"Down, tiger," I counter with a giggle of my own as we make our way towards the door with the rest of our friends in tow.

"Annie?"

You've got to be kidding me
