"Hello?" I call as I open the door to my new home

"Hello?" I call as I open the door to my new home. Inside, there's music playing while a girl with bubblegum pink hair dances around the room and a girl with black hair photographs her. The side of the room that they're in is decorated with a bright purple bedspread and matching rug, and the walls are covered with polaroid pictures and a vibrantly-colored tapestry is hanging behind the bed.

"Hi!" The pastel-haired one stops dancing and looks over at me in surprise. "Wait, are you my roommate?!"

"Yeah, I am," I answer, but before I can explain why I'm moving in late, she runs over to me and pulls me into a hug. She has a taupe scarf tying her hair back from her face, and a white crop top with bell-bottom jeans that accentuate her tiny waist and curvy hips.

"Thank God!" She exclaims as she squishes me to her chest. "I thought I was going to have to suffer through first year by myself!"

"Whatever bitch," the dark-haired girl scoffs playfully in the same accent as she sits up on the bed. "I don't like you either."

"Oh shut up, Jennie!" The girl giggles when she finally lets go of me. When I look closer, I notice that she has caramel eyes and a tiny silver nose ring on her right side. "You know I love you, but I thought I wasn't going to have a roomie!"

"Sorry for scaring you like that," I smile back at her. "I flew straight here from America. I forgot that Seoul is a day ahead, so I booked my plane ticket for the wrong day."

"No worries," she assures me with a brilliant smile. "I'm Rose, it's nice to finally meet you, roomie!"

"I'm Anna," I offer her a handshake, but Rose pulls me into another hug instead.

"Handshakes are for strangers," she informs me with that same exuberant smile. "We're going to be such good friends!"

"Roseanne, chill out, she just got here. You're going to scare her back to America if you keep this up," the raven-haired girl laughs as she walks over to us. "I'm Jennie, Roseanne's slightly-less-crazy sister. Welcome to Seoul Arts."

"Thanks," I offer her a handshake and, unlike her sister, she accepts it with a smile. "Are you a first year as well?"

"Second," she gently corrects me, "so what part of the States are you from?"

"Chicago," I tell her, and her smile grows bigger with recognition.

"I've always wanted to visit there," she says with a glance at her camera. "That giant silver bean thing you've got would make some awesome pictures for my portfolio."

"Careful, it's a giant tourist trap," I joke. "If you ever make it out, I'll show you all of the hidden gems of the windy city."

"You've got yourself a deal," Jennie smiles and looks to Rose, "alright, I should probably head to Kai's place."

"Okay," Rose pouts and pulls her sister into a hug. "Tell him I'll be at band practice after class tomorrow."

"I will," Jennie promises before turning back to me. "See you around, Anna."
