ELLAJIN
"I didn't realize that everyone was going to be coming to this," I grumble as I help my Uncle Jin finish off the decorations for Uncle Yoongi's surprise party. Had I known that Wooyoung would be coming, I would've...
Probably worn something hotter, my subconscious suggests, but I ignore her.
"Where's your party spirit?" Uncle Jin chuckles and pokes my dimple. "You love parties!"
"No, Uncle Jin, you love parties and force me to help you with them," I correct him. "I'm only here because it's about damn time that Kihyun proposed to Uncle Yoongi."
Uncle Jin elbows me in the side and pretends to swat at my head. "I didn't force you to do anything. Now, go call your dad and make sure everyone will be here on time."
I roll my eyes and walk to the entrance as he blows a kiss in my direction. My phone is already ringing as I reach to tap my father's name in the contact list, so I answer the call on the first ring. "Hey Dad."
"Hey Jinnie," my dad already sounds frazzled on the other end of the call, "can you tell Jin that some of the guys are running late? I'd do it myself but he'll start yelling at me."
I snicker at the truth in his statement, half-expecting him to run be running late as usual anyway. "Okay, I will. What happened this time?"
There's an exasperated sigh from my father's end of the call before he responds. "Your dear Uncle Jungkook forgot that the party was today, so your mom and I had to take him shopping for something to wear, and you know how your mom gets--"
"--Your Uncle Jungkook is an idiot that doesn't use the calendar on his phone like I showed him." My mom cuts in.
"I forgot!" Uncle Jungkook whines in the background.
I'm about to ask why Beomgyu didn't remind him about the party, but I get my answer when Beomgyu and Sunny walk into the restaurant by themselves. "I'll tell Uncle Jin that you'll be here soon. I'll see you in a bit."
"Thanks, Jinnie, love you." My dad's side of the call ends first, leaving me to greet the boys.
"Noona!" Beomgyu waves excitedly when he sees me walking over, but Sunny only offers me a small grit of a smile.
Not the face I expected with him walking in with Beomgyu, but okay
"Hey Gyu," I give Beomgyu a hug as soon as he's close enough before turning to Sunny. "Um hi?"
He smiles through gritted teeth as he hugs me. "Please don't kill me."
"What did you do?" I whisper mid-hug, but my answer comes as the door to the restaurant opens again, and Wooyoung walks in.
...with Chris
They're both dressed for the occasion in outfits that look like they're straight out of the Saint Laurent catalog, and of course, they both look absolutely gorgeous.
"What the fuck?" I try to act like I haven't noticed them and keep my eyes on Sunny. "Do you want to explain to me why Chris is here?"
"You're not happy to see your boyfriend?" Sunny feigns an innocent expression just as the pair come over to us.
"I will deal with you later," I mutter under my breath just before Chris and Wooyoung are within earshot. "Hey, what are you doing here?"
Chris smiles brightly and kisses my cheek, and damn, he looks hot in a suit. "Sunny told me that your Uncle is getting engaged tonight and invited me."
I force a smile and look over at Sunny, silently slapping him in my mind. "Did he?"
Sunny acts unfazed and smiles innocently. "I know you're nervous to introduce him to your family, so I had to give you a little push."
Chris wraps an arm around my waist. "I promise to be on my best behavior."
It's not you that I'm worried about.
I glance over at Wooyoung, who looks far too calm and far too hot in that stupid silk shirt. He wears an eerily easy expression, and I can't help but narrow my eyes at him. It'd be safe to say we haven't talked since our little incident the other day.
"Who's this?" Uncle Jin comes over just in time for me to start sweating.
"Uncle Jin!" I look between him and Chris and Wooyoung, knowing that Uncle Jin is likely finding this situation amusing. "I uh--this is... we uh..."
Chris takes my silence as an opportunity to bow to my godfather. "Hello sir, my name is Chris. I hope you don't mind me tagging along--"
"--don't be ridiculous, it's a party!" Jin takes advantage of the champagne that floats past us on a platter and grabs a glass for both him and Chris. "I do have to ask, how do you know my goddaughter?"
Chris looks at me to answer, along with Uncle Jin, Sunny, Beomgyu... and Wooyoung. Something in the way that Wooyoung smirks, as if he knows something that I don't, makes my blood boil as I tell Jin and the rest of them, "Chris is my boyfriend. I think its time he meets the family."
Try as I might to ignore it, I can see the way that Wooyoung's shoulders fall out of the corner of my eye. I tell myself to be done paying him any attention at all, and instead, I lace my fingers in Chris's and note how warm and comforting his hand feels.
Sunny ushers us into the party with Beomgyu tailing behind him, and I begin to look over the two of them. Sunny definitely dressed both of them given the silk Gucci shirt that Beomgyu is wearing, but he wears it well.
Note to self: ask Sunny for an update later
"You said the B-word," Chris whispers, breaking me of my thoughts.
I blink in surprise and turn to look at him, suddenly grateful for my makeup being able to cover the blush that spreads on my cheeks. "I mean..."
He chuckles and lightly pecks my lips. "I liked it. Now I get to call you my girlfriend."
And yet, even as my stomach flutters, my eyes can only focus on Wooyoung as he slips away.
