"Daddy?" I stare back at the man in front me, unable to accept what I'm seeing. My eyes glaze over as my father greets me with wide eyes. "What are you... you're... I..."

"I, uh..." my father looks between me and Yunho, who is scared shitless, "I didn't..."

"Uncle Jackson," Yunho whimpers, "please don't kill me."

I look between my dad and Yunho, waiting for something to happen. What I did not count on is Dr. Gray walking back in to find my father holding Yunho against the wall.

"Sir... I'm not sure who you are, but please don't make me call security," she says cautiously. She gives me a concerned glance, given my shocked expression.

"No, that won't be necessary," he chuckles uncomfortably as he lets go of Yunho. "I'm her father."

I sigh and hold my hand out, but when my dad tries to take it, I call out, "Yunho."

"I'll come back in a minute," Dr. Gray says before leaving the room again.

My dad's face drops when he sees my fingers lace with Yunho's instead of his. "I see some things have changed since I saw you last."

"This is the tip of the iceberg," I hiss back.

"Sweetheart," my dad comes to the other side of my bed and crouches down to be at eye level, "what happened?"

"Oh, let's see..." I pretend to consider his question as if the answer hasn't been driving me crazy for the past two years. "You said that you were going on a business trip and never came home. I called you and you never returned my messages. You've been completely absent from my life for the past two years!"

"I swear, I tried to get in touch with you," he argues. "I called, texted, even emailed, but none of it would go through. I know it's no excuse for being gone, but I was doing something really important."

I stare at my father long and hard, trying to decide whether he's worthy of even entertaining the idea of forgiveness. "I've survived without a dad for the past two years. I don't know if I need one anymore."

Guilt consumes me when I see my dad's eyes fill with tears, but the tears are coming even quicker for me. Seeing his treacherous face after all this time just stirs up all of the anger that has cumulated since he left.

"I'm so sorry, sweetheart." He reaches out to hold my free hand, but I pull away before he has a chance to make contact.

"Do you know what it's been like since you left?" I squeeze Yunho's hand for comfort, and he squeezes back. "Uncle Mark came to my graduation in your place. I spent the past two Christmases with Uncle Namjoon. Uncle Jinyoung and Hyunjin moved me into my dorm. But you couldn't be bothered to come back until I was in the hospital? There were so many times that I wished more than anything that you would show up, but I don't want to see you right now."
