Adam heard familiar voices whisper around him, but he couldn't see the people they belonged to. His face was buried in his arms and he was hugging his knees, hoping they wouldn't recognize him in the dimly lit room.
'Is that really him?'
'He looks different from what you described, Maaz.'
'Remember what Adam said. They can switch between human form and demon form or they can stick somewhere in between.'
'So that's a demon when they're in between?'
'Yeah, look at those horns, wings and the tail.'
Only now did Adam realize he had changed. His horns, tail and wings were visible. He wondered why. The demon lifted his head slightly, enough for him to peek around, but not enough for the others to see his face. He recognized the setup around him to summon him, but also saw the elements of a second spell. Not one that could trap him like he tried to use during the red moon, but one that would immobilize his powers. That's why he wasn't fully changed in either form. That's why he couldn't turn invisible, even if he tried. The room was only lit by candles, which was the only reason they hadn't recognized him yet. Adam had to think fast. He had to get out before they realised it was him.
'So... mister, Demon? We... we wanted to talk to you. Can you tell us your name or do you just want us to keep calling you demon?' Maaz asked. Adam didn't reply. He tried to use his wings to shield himself from his friends vision. He took a moment to orientate himself and realized he was in Maaz's and Rush's dorm. His friends were standing in a wide circle around him. There was only one way Adam could think of that might get him out of the situation.
'Mister Demon?' Rush asked nervously.
Adam suddenly jumped up, making his friends jump. He ran towards the closest window, knowing the lock was broken and he could easily slide it open. He was about to jump through the now open window, when he felt someone grab his arm and pull him back, turning him around in the process. Adam, who was caught by surprise, was now staring straight into Maaz's eyes.
'Adam!?' The Australian boy exclaimed in shock.
'What the hell?' Rush said.
Adam froze. All of his friends were staring at him in shock. Not all of them. One person was not here. The blonde boy he had been cuddled up with just a couple minutes ago.
Suddenly the door burst open and James came running in.
'Adam figured out what you guys are doing and he can be here any moment to stop you from summoning a dem...' James was caught off by his own shock. Staring straight at Adam, who still had his horns, tail and wings visible.
Adam felt his eyes tear up. He'd only just gotten together with the blonde and now he already ruined it. Who would ever love a demon? Adam pulled his arm free and jumped through the window, spreading his wings to fly away. As soon as he left the room and could use his powers again, he turned invisible. That way the others couldn't see him, as he flew away.

Adam landed in the forrest, crashing down on the ground as soon as he landed. Why? Why did this have to happen? Everytime he was convinced he could be happy, something went completely wrong. There was no way out of this. He could try to mess with their memories, but that was very hard. And that trouble would be for one person. All five of his friends saw him. No, he had to accept that he lost them. He finally had friends after ten years of being alone, and now he lost them again. All of them, even James.
'GOD DAMN IT!' He screamed, scaring away a couple birds in nearby trees. He loved James so much, he didn't wanna lose him. He couldn't imagine losing him. But he had lost him.
'No one ever loves a demon. No one ever loves a demon. No one ever loves a GOD DAMN FUCKING DEMON!' He screamed, sobbing loudly.
'And that's just about the creature I am! They'll be mad because I lied! They'll be mad because I attacked them during the red moon! They'll be disgusted when they realise I killed so many people! I lost them! I lost them forever!' He sobbed. He crawled up form the ground and ran over to a nearby tree.
'I LOST THEM FOREVER!' He screamed as he used his claws to slash into the tree's trunk.
'I FUCKING LOST THEM! AFTER EVERYTHING, I JUST LOST THEM!' He raged.
'I LOST ALL OF THEM! LADDI!' Slash. 'RUSH!' Slash. 'JAIDEN!' Slash. 'MAAZ!' Slash. 'JAMES!' Slash, slash. 'JAMES!' Slash. 'MY JAMES!' Slash. 'My James.' Drip. 'My little James...' Drip. 'My sweet, sweet, little Jameson...' Drip. Drip.
Tears started falling on the ground as Adam broke down next to the damaged tree. He hugged his knees tightly and used his wings to shield himself from the outside world as he cried.

'There you are! I was wondering where you went. I looked for you, but I couldn't find you.' Mona said when Adam entered the warehouse.
'I needed a moment.' Adam said, his voice hoarse from crying. He cleared his throat to try and make it go away, but it didn't help.
'I assume they figured it out.' Mona said. Adam just nodded.
'So what are you gonna do now? James is your roommate, you can't really avoid him.' Mona asked.
'I'll stay in the warehouse for now. The spell should be done in a couple of days. Then we take out the angel and leave.' Adam muttered as he walked over to a couch in the corner and dropped down on it, feeling exhausted and still heartbroken.
'You're not even gonna say goodbye to your friends?' Mona asked in surprise.
'No! It's not like they'd wanna see me. When we get our next mission, we'll probably move away, so they weren't going to be a part of my life much longer anyways. It was fun while it lasted.' Adam replied.
'That's a little harsh.' Mona commented. Adam shrugged.
'I'm a demon. It's not like I care.' He wasn't sure if he was trying to convince Mona or himself. Either way, it didn't work.
'Adam, I can see you're hurting. You care about your friends. You shouldn't just ghost them because they know you're a demon.' Mona said as she sat down on the couch next to Adam.
'What do you care?' The male demon asked.
'I do care! You know I'm a young demon! I still care! I haven't lost my soul yet!'
'But my friends don't have anything to do with you. You don't even know them. Why would you care about them?'
'I don't! But... I've always been bad at making friends. But then at one point, I made two. And one of them is sitting on this couch with me, pretending like he has a heart made of ice, when in reality he's hurting. And I don't want him to be hurting.'
'I kinda completely destroyed the other friend you had, lied to you, manipulated you and broke your heart.' Adam muttered.
'I'm a demon just like you. Don't worry, I get it. I'm not saying I'm happy about it, but I get it. You know... I still think you're a cutie.'
'Mona, you know I'm not interested.'
'Fair enough...'
'Do you have anything more to say? Otherwise I would appreciate it if you left so I can go to sleep.'
'Stay away from your friends all you want, Adam, but don't leave without saying goodbye. I was heartbroken when Illy disappeared without saying goodbye. Don't do that to them... and don't do that to yourself...'
'Goodnight, Mona!'
Mona sighed as she walked away, knowing she wouldn't get through Adam's stubbornness anyway.
'Goodnight, Adam...' She said as she closed the door behind her.

Adam tried to get as comfortable as possible on the couch, but it wasn't really working. He was glad Mona left, because he had tears threatening to escape his eyes the entire time.
Soft sobs echoed through the warehouse as Adam hugged one of the pillows on the couch as tightly as possible. He wanted to be back at his dorm so badly. He wanted to cuddle up with James like he had done this afternoon. It seemed like so much longer ago than just a couple hours. He wanted to hold the blonde... but he couldn't. Adam hated himself. He hated himself for the amount of kills he'd done. He hated himself for lying to his friends. He hated himself for what he was. What would've happened if he hadn't become a demon. His life still wouldn't be good. A better question would be, what if he never had to become a demon. If he'd grown up with his friends like a normal human. If he'd never left their side... he wished that was the reality, but it wasn't. He was a demon. He was a monster. And now all his friends knew it.
