"I will miss you Minji. Take care of yourself. Have a happy married life." Isabelle kissed Minji's head after brushing her hair. She started to heat the hair iron so she can style Minji's hair with curls at the end.
"Tia, I couldn't thank you enough for taking good care of me. I promise to contact you often." Minji looked at her through the mirror. Tia Isabelle, as she fondly calls her, wiped her eyes. She took care of her for months when she arrived in Korea. Like her, she is also an immigrant. Atty. Choi mentioned that it is best that she be under the care of a non-Korean considering that the people who killed her mom are Korean syndicates.
"Aigoo. no trouble at all. You were very responsible." Tia Isabelle started parting her hair and twisting it. "Have you met your future husband yet?"
"No. I will just sign the contract after he's done. Atty. Choi's men will pick me up to bring me to the City Hall."
Tia Isabelle's left eyebrow raised. "What kind of marriage will happen, eh child?" Her brushing started to get rough. "Does he not want to see her bride?". She lightly hairsprayed some of the finished curls.
"Tia, this is an arranged marriage so I don't want to complain. Besides, I don't think I can face him too." Her cheeks turned red.
"Arranged marriage or not," Tia Isabelle swayed her brush into the air. "How is he going to kiss you if he is not there?"
Minji's cheeks became tomato-red.
Tia Isabelle pinched her slender arm. "Wear the lace panties that I chose for you last week. That will make a man happy." Minji chuckled.
"Tia, why did we even buy that? I'm pretty sure that he will not be touching me." Minji continuously laughed.
"He might want to if he sees you walking around in sexy lingerie." Tia Isabelle's expression continues to tease while curling her hair. "If you are not meeting the boy, why are we even making you pretty?"
"Tia...." She whined. "This is my first wedding. Although it is arranged, I want it special. Even for me." She pouted. "I even picked a classy white dress."
"Ay, my child." She looked at her. "I hope you know what you are getting into." Tia Isabelle doesn't know the real reason why she is marrying Jeon Jung Kook, heck, she doesn't even know her real name. And although there are times that she wanted to tell more, she hesitated, afraid that she will put the remaining few people around her at risk.
"I hope I can still see you around. This apartment will be empty without you." Tia Isabelle shaped her brows. "Please study how to groom yourself if you want to keep your man. I always see you in jogger pants and no make up."
"Jogger pants are comfortable, Tia" Minji chuckled. "As for the make-up, my mom spanked me with a clothes hanger when I used hers so that's how my makeup artist dream shattered." A tear formed at the side of her eyes remembering her promise to her mom. Ever since she got punished for doing make-up, she did not dare to do it again.
Tia Isabelle continued to apply light make-up on her face. The pink lipstick suited her milky white complexion perfectly. She then clipped a pair of earrings. Minji touched the small diamond earrings. "These are my mom's. She bought these on her last birthday and promised that she will pass it on to me when I got married." A tear fell from Minji's eyes. "I'm sorry, Tia. I didn't mean to ruin your make-up."
"Hush now.."She quickly pat some powder on Minji's face to cover the tear marks before turning Minji's chair around so that the girl can take a look at herself to the mirror. "You look so pretty. Im sure that your mom would love to see you on this day."
"I look different." Minji looked at her reflection in awe.
Tia Isabelle patted her shoulders. "Well, this is a different day. Sometimes, different is good." She sprayed a vanilla scented perfume on Minji's back before assisting her in fitting her dress. While Minji inserted one of her arms into the armhole, Tia Isabelle's phone began to ring.
"Yes, she is almost done. Please pick up all her belongings and deliver them to their new house." That sends a cold shiver to her spine or was it the zipper on the dress? She sat down while Tia Isabelle put her high heeled pointed shoes on. She helped her stand and assisted her to balance.
She took one last look at the mirror. This is how she looks like before marrying a man she knows nothing about.
"Minji, it's time to go. Atty Choi's men are already downstairs. Let me accompany you out of the apartment."
She grabbed her purse and wrap her hands around Tia Isabelle's shoulders as she might fall. The older woman began to laugh. "Getting married and still clingy."
She pouted. "It's your fault. You chose these heels."
"They are gorgeous, ay. The laces complemented your dress." They walked outside the apartment while Minji still clings to Tia Isabelle. When the front door opens, two men greeted them and one of them held her hand as she walked down the staircase towards the van. Tia Isabelle followed.
"I hope you did not leave anything, hija" Tia Isabelle started to cry.
"Just you." She then hugged her Tia Isabelle for a long time.
Their hug was broken when one of the men opened the van and whispered that they have to go now because Jung Kook is almost done with his part of the wedding ceremony. She went inside and looked back while her Tia Isabelle watched the van drives away.
